MAC Glitter & Ice Mineralize Shadows in Shimmermint & Hold That Pose

Six  Mineralize eyeshadows  are part of the holiday Glitter and Ice line. I have 2 ( shown) in Shimmermint and Hold That Pose.

While not a big mauve shadow fan, Hold That Pose is pretty if  that is your  type of shade. The grey veining  dirties it up a bit, so it's less pink.

 Shimmermint on the other hand, I love. It's very vivid , more so than the picture suggests and highly metallic. It's  mint but a deeper mint, not  as pale as most mints are and while my images seem to show it as a blue green, it's defintely green on me.

MAC Style Driven - Pro Longwear Eyeshadow

Style Driven from MAC launches the brands new longwear products- Eyeshadow , Lipglass, and Lip Pencil as well as new Lipcreme lipsticks shades.

Going to highlight the eyeshadows here, but  let me say the  Pro Longwear Lipglass- Unreal. It lasts  and lasts. More to come.

The Pro Longwear eyeshadows come in 16 shades. They are very pigmented  with a smooth blendable formula that wears really well .  I melt eye makeup in an amazingly short period of time normally and I gave these the acid test- no base, just a light swipe of foundation on eyelid before applying. After 4 hours I still had plenty of color left with a  just tiny bit of smudging. Now on me that's a minor miracle.  So on you, providing you normally get good eyeshadow wear, they should last  far longer. And with a base obviously. Call these the durable eyeshadow.

I am in love with the  green and deep brown shades shown, but there is a really wide range of shades to choose from. From  pink to black and in between.

Clinique Lid Smoothie Antioxidant 8 Hr Eye Color

Clinique's tag line for their new Lid Smoothie eye colors is " Way cooler than your average eye colour". That's for 2 reasons- the  actually cool on the eyes metal applicator and the long wear  of the shadows.

These new shadows come in 12 shades  and have good pigment but go on with muted color but are not sheer.  Coverage is good . I am partial to the Cute-Cucumber green and Currant Affair plum shades. ( Other shades shown are Bit O'Honey and Born Freesia. Yes, someone had fun naming these).

As I've mentioned many, many times, eye makeup melts on me fast.  I am always happy to try anything meant to be long lasting as I need it. These did pretty well. I got about a half day of  wear , using a base. You may fare better as my eyelids are an oil well. 

The are very creamy and  fairly thick and blend easily but need a bit of drying time on the eyes. Not long, but give it a 60 second count to set to a more powder finish. There is also some shimmer.

The formula also includes beneficial antioxidants including Vitamin E, Broccoli , Carrot and Blueberry. It really does sound like a Smoothie. Cucumber , Aloe Vera and Caffiene are in there as well.

Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Eyeshadow

Illusion D'Ombre is new type of shadow from Chanel. It's a cream to powder basically ,but it's not quite basic.

The texture in the pot is almost spongy and the shadow is very creamy. It blends really well on the eye and dries down fast.  The packaging says "Long Wear" and I have to say it wore  pretty well on me (using a base) and cream shadows rarely do. So if it wore  ok on me, then most of you will find it wears really well.

On the eye it's very shimmery, which I happen to love. The shade Emerveille shown at top is a light peach and really opens and brighten the eyes.

Illusoire is a deep purple which shows in the photo of the product but the swatch looks more smoky . The color in the pot is the color that ends up on eyes. It's more purple/plum than smoky  and goes on deep but not goth dark.

Silly thing, but I  love the little brush that comes with it. The brush works fine with the shadow , but I find using my fingers still works best for me.  I love the brush mainly because it's cute and small and says Chanel.

This is the shadow that was debuted at the brands Fall/Winter show in February. The model shown, who looks amazing, is wearing the charcoal shade I beleive.

Dior Blue Tie Palette

Another beauty of a palette from Dior- The Blue Tie containing 4 eyeshadows and one lipstick tucked neatly under a silver flip lid.

This is one of those you can't help but love since it's so pretty. The compact is heavy and has the Dior Cannage embossing. The shadows make a great smoky eye but the lightest blue( top right corner) can be worn daytime on it's own .

MAC Colourizations Double Feature Eye Duos

Colourizations are pocket sized duos of contrasting eyeshadows. The compact measures 3" x 1  1/2 ". There are 8 colorways called Double Features .  I have to say I think some of the pairings are a bit odd, but if you want something a little different than these might be for you. Also they don't have to be used together if you happen to like both shades but not at once . The green/teal shadows are especially nice as is the darker shade in Double Feature 5 which is dark brown with green pearl . I've numbered each for reference.

These will be on counter August 4th and will sell for 25.00.Nordstrom and The Bay get them first.

Guerlain Fall 2011- Mirror Mirror

Guerlain Fall comes along in August  featuring new eyeshadow palettes, shades of Rouge G ,  Eyeliners as well as Skincare in  Abielle Royale Up-Lifting  Eye Cream , and Orchidee Imperiale Longevity Concentrate  . The new fragrance will be  Shalimar Parfum Initial. ( I'll be reviewing that in a separate post shortly. )

MAC Semi- Precious Eyeshadows

Within the Semi -Precious collection from MAC are 12 eyeshadows. I'm showing 3 of my favorites - Dark Indulgence, Blue Sheen and Mineral Mode.

Mineral Mode is the one that really caught my eye. It goes on light and champagne looking, nothing too different , but I love the veins of color here. They make it special . More so to me than the deeper shades.

I got a chance to use this eye pencil from Tip n Toes. Tip n Toes belongs to Shingar Group which was established in 1961. After using its Mineral Compact I am very impressed with this brand. My experience with the product:
I absolutely love this pencil. It glides on my eye so effortlessly and does not tug on my eyelids even a bit.
I quite like the shade too - its more of a blackish- grey with tiny silver sparkles in it.
It is true to its claim of being smudge proof. It takes seconds to settle in and then VOILA you have smudge proof look perfect for summer days.
This pencil is also true to its claims of being long lasting as it stays fine for 5 - 6 hours. EASILY !
It is very easy to create winged look with this pencil and it is best for evenings ... the sparkles in the pencil look really good. I used this pencil to outline my waterline too and it did not sting me at all. 
This pencil is pretty much very similar to Avon Glimmersticks...

Sephora Jumbo Liner 12 Hr Wear Waterproof

Want a quick hit of big color that's super easy ? Look no further than  Jumbo Liner Crayon 12 HR Wear from Sephora.

Not just for eyelining , these easily go all over the whole eye in once swipe.
I love quick pencils like this  because while sometimes I have lot of time for makeup , like most people I  often have very little time to get it done. I still want it to  look good of course.

 Sephora's Flashy Waterproof liner has been a top favorite of mine for years.  One of the longest lasting products ever on my eyes and the  new Jumbo  Liner lasts really well too.   It's also supposed to be waterproof though I haven't tested that part yet.

I love the Olive shade, Kaki, for a fast smoky eye. The olive is a change up and great for summer.  Add a little light gold in the inner corner and I'm set. And yes I wear this as a daytime smoky eye.

There are 14 shades at $ 10.00 each, ranging from basic black to bright turquoise. The quality is tops and they are an easy to stash item for  during the day touch ups.

MAC Big Bounce Eyeshadows from Flighty

I love MAC, you know that if you've been here at least once. I've been using it since 1993. I say this as a lead in to the new Big Bounce cream eyeshadows, because it's a rare day when MAC does something that just doesn't seem to work.

It's also been mentioned here many times that I have oily eyelids and major makeup melt , so  keep that in mind. But my fellow blogger Musings of a Muse had many of the same issues on her dry lids.

Big Bounce shadows are a  thin whipped mousse . Swatched on my hand they look glorious and rich in  pigment. On my eyes, both with and without base, I layered and layered ,waiting long for the product to dry in between and still came up with a sheer wash. Now MAC does say that they are sheer washes, buildable to medium. I got the sheer only. And they didn't last much at all,  moved around  the lid and streaked.

The colors here are beautiful  , and  I was excited when I opened the jars even knowing cream shadows rarely work for me ( except Paint Pots, love them and  one by Shu Uemura).

That said, The Mom used one , with her UD base and got more color than I did. She has oily lids too,  but definitely had better results.

So if you're jonesing to try Big Bounce ,  maybe get the SA to test them on you first for a trial  run.

MAC Lucky Green & Aqua Eyeshadows from Fashion Flower

Lucky Green and Aqua are two new eyeshadows from MAC's Fashion Flower line. There are six shadows in all. They are , like the Beauty powders, embossed with a flower design.  Lucky Green is a favorite,  a  medium grass green with shimmer and is a Veluxe Pearl.

LORAC Hot Off The Red Carpet Collection

LORAC usually puts out well put togther and well priced collections, and the Hot Off The Red Carpet is no exception.

First off the bag. Not all sets with bags have great bags, right ? This one is metal mesh somewhat like Whiting and Davis vintage ones. It has an inside pocket and detachable wrist strap.  I like a swank  everyday makeup bag so this is going to be my new one.

Inside you get a Multiplex 3D  gloss in 3D. I love these glosses and have 3D already in my stash.  Then you have 2   Baked eyeshadow duos ( one broke in transit which is why you see little of it ). There is turquoise/bronze ( Tease Me), and  golden/ deep blackened brown ( Tempt Me) and a  Baked Bronzer ( Tantalize me), which  goes on  sheer with just a little color .

Givenchy Candide Garden Quad Spring 2011

Givenchy's   Candide Garden is their LE quad for Spring. It  features 4 great colors that are very me, and I find myself using the deep brown and  light peach a lot right now and saving the green for hotter, (self) tanner  days.

 I know many think with quads, that  the idea is to use all 4 shades together. I have never thought that way. No idea why, but to me when looking at a quad, I need to like the shades individually to be interested and I often wear quad shades  only 2 at a time, 3 at most.  I  pretty much never use all 4.

 These colors are very summery and the shades  go on lighter than they look in the pan  and blend easily.  The compact is tiny enough to stash easily in any bag , to have it handy for after beach or pool day touch ups as well as simply mid day workweek ones.

MAC Cutie Quad from Quite Cute

Cutie is the quad from MAC's new Quite Cute collection hitting stores April 7. Or as I like to call it, The Easter Egg collection. All the shades in this line are pastel, spring and seriously make me think of a decked out Easter basket. 

The eyeshadow quad, Cutie, has  two purple shades - one light  and sheer( Boycrazy) and one  deeper  and smoky ( Azuki Bean) , one  in light  pink (Goody Goody Gum Drop) and  one in pale ,minty green ( Moshi Moshi!).

With the exception  of Azuki Bean, they all go on sheerer and less bright than they seem in the palette .  Not a lot less, but a little.

I am loving the purple shades here. I don't have a lot of purples  for some odd reason , since they look good on me, and the two together today made a nice look.

I doubt I'll use the pink, I'm just not into pink shadow but I can see using the green as a highlighter. All of these together at once though- no.
