MAC Pro Longwear Lipglass

If you want a  really long wearing lipgloss then look no further than MAC's Pro Longwear Lipglass. This new ( ish) gloss wears like glue. I got several hours of wear including drinking out of mine. That's unusual for a gloss.

It is more tacky than most glosses but  not drying. It has moisture and it sticks.

MAC Glitter & Ice Mineralize Shadows in Shimmermint & Hold That Pose

Six  Mineralize eyeshadows  are part of the holiday Glitter and Ice line. I have 2 ( shown) in Shimmermint and Hold That Pose.

While not a big mauve shadow fan, Hold That Pose is pretty if  that is your  type of shade. The grey veining  dirties it up a bit, so it's less pink.

 Shimmermint on the other hand, I love. It's very vivid , more so than the picture suggests and highly metallic. It's  mint but a deeper mint, not  as pale as most mints are and while my images seem to show it as a blue green, it's defintely green on me.

MAC Tendertones Back in Spring 2012

Big MAC news today. Looking at the face charts from Milan fashion week  , Lisa Butler used Hush Hush Tendertone Lip Balm on the lips for the Emilio Pucci show  and the copy states that it will be out in Spring/Summer 2012.

Tendertones is one of my all time favorite MAC items ( ok, there are a lot of favorites , but  they're definitely up there) so I am thrilled to see they will finally make a comeback. Thanks MAC.

MAC Holiday 2011 Glitter and Ice w/ Johnny Weir- Sneak Peek ( Updated)

Figure Skater Johnny Weir posted a promo image on his website from his upcoming line with MAC which is also their holiday collection . I have seen a few pieces in person but as far as I know I still can't say /show them.  I think you can get a nice idea from the image here and I can tell you that  the packaging on the compact sets is incredibly cool. His  promo event is late October in Florida, so by then we should all know more on the line.

 Edit: Images have arrived , so I added some in. Glitter and Ice will be on counter beginning Oct. 27th  with more items in November.

New MAC Lipstick and Blush debuts at The Blonds Spring 2012

The Blonds is a  show where the makeup artists can go as  over the top as they want . MAC created a fab face here and  and previewed a new lipstick- Flamingo( used with Stripdown lip pencil) and  a new blush shade called Immortal Flower. These will be out sometime in Spring / Summer.

Erin Fetherston Spring 2012 w/ MAC and Alterna, butterLONDON for Beauty.com

Erin Fetherston's backstage makeup was helmed by maestro James Kaliardos for MAC  . He  and Ms. Fetherston were inspired by  Mia Farrow at Truman Capote's Black and White Ball of the 60s.The look was  bold. A bold smoky eye and a bold pink lip and it looked fabulous.

The hair was done by Esther Langham for Alterna on Beauty.com   and the nails  Nonie Crème for butter LONDON on Beauty.com.  Ms. Langham created 4 hairstyles for the show  using all Alterna products from the Bamboo line and each style had volume and lift at the crown.  Nonie created a custom nail shade she called Patent Pink from two existing shades - Pink Ribbon and Tea With The Queen. Often these custom shades become  for sale ones later  so it may just turn up in Spring.

The clothes were simply pretty with a  modern but 60s vibe.  Everyone was taken with the orange georgette sequin striped  dress especially. It is  summer personified.  All the fabrics here were ethereal and floaty and  they made the models look a  bit angelic.

MAC Style Driven - Pro Longwear Eyeshadow

Style Driven from MAC launches the brands new longwear products- Eyeshadow , Lipglass, and Lip Pencil as well as new Lipcreme lipsticks shades.

Going to highlight the eyeshadows here, but  let me say the  Pro Longwear Lipglass- Unreal. It lasts  and lasts. More to come.

The Pro Longwear eyeshadows come in 16 shades. They are very pigmented  with a smooth blendable formula that wears really well .  I melt eye makeup in an amazingly short period of time normally and I gave these the acid test- no base, just a light swipe of foundation on eyelid before applying. After 4 hours I still had plenty of color left with a  just tiny bit of smudging. Now on me that's a minor miracle.  So on you, providing you normally get good eyeshadow wear, they should last  far longer. And with a base obviously. Call these the durable eyeshadow.

I am in love with the  green and deep brown shades shown, but there is a really wide range of shades to choose from. From  pink to black and in between.

Carmen Marc Valvo Spring 2012 w/ MAC & Ted Gibson

I always look forward to Carmen Marc Valvo. Not just the show but the backstage. I know the clothes will be  beautiful and elegant and I get a chance to see them close up where you can really appreciate the detail . Then there is the adorable and fun team of Romero Jennings for MAC doing makeup and Ted Gibson doing the hair on behalf of Beauty.com.

This season's show makeup look is fresh and All American  with a bold lip and a lightly made up face. As Romero says in the video it's what many women do everyday. Foundation , mascara and a bold lip.  He debuted a new red lipstick from MAC coming in Spring , which is a red/coral hybrid called Scarlet Ibis.  He used Cherry lip pencil and Basic Red pigment over the lips. Skin has the new Matchmaster foundation , Taupe Sculpt powder  on cheeks for contour and Pearl CCB on top of cheekbones. The eyes have Coffee eye pencil , Omega eye shadow and Zoom Lash.

For the hair Ted was inspired by Peggy Lipton and her always perfect sleek hair .  He sleeked it back at the top to tuck behind the ears, leaving the back straight and shiny. He sprayed his own brand hairspray into his palm and lightly ran it down the hair for hold.

The clothes were as lovely as expected  and  there were more casually elegant looks like silk shorts and palazzo pants. The white/silver beaded tank dress was  a favorite  and it was  nice to see the models sporting flats and not teetering heels. That is All American. A pretty dress, flowing hair and  a sharp sandal.

MAC Posh Paradise Paint Pots

8 Paint Pots are part of the new MAC collection Posh Paradise. I've documented my love of Paint Pots before , so I am loving these. I have four of the new shades here.

Nubile reminds me of Bare Study, but is peachier. Idyllic  has more burgundy in it than the name implies .

Art of Powder is one  fab looking trip from MAC. Each is it's own little work of art. I can't decide if I like the bronzer or eyeshadow best. I'll wait to see in person to decide. But it's not like  I or you can't like them all.

MAC Avenue, Midnight Blues & Dark Envy Fluidlines from MAC Me Over

MAC Fluidlines are possibly my favorite MAC item .  I am thrilled when I hear there will be new ones.
MAC Me Over  brings three all new Fluidlines plus one good re-promote Dark Diversion( deep plum).

The three new beauties , and they are beauties are:

Avenue- Called Charcoal  by MAC, but very much deep  brown to me with a nice shimmer of gold flecks.

Midnight Blues- Very deep blue, almost navy.

Dark Envy- Very deep hunter green ( MAC calls it blackened green).

These are the deeper cousins to  Siahi and Ivy from Mickey Contractor and if you loved those, you'll most likely love these. I do and while I'm not much a of a blue liner user, I can't really pick a fav between  the other two , Avenue and Dark Envy. But since I love all things green, it probably is Dark Envy by a nose, or eyeline.

MAC Opulash Optimum Black

Opulash is my favorite MAC mascara. Mostly because it lasts-and lasts and lasts. 8AM  to Midnight and it will never run or smudge on me ( rarer than seeing a meteor shower).  It also does a good job of lengthening and volumizing.

Now there is Opulash Optimum Black. What's the difference ? First up the formula.  The original Opulash was a thick formula and needed wiping before using and sometimes gave me clumps.   New Optimum Black seems to be just a little bit thinner  and therefore goes on much easier right out of the tube. It defines lashes better, adds some curl and I think is giving me more length and volume. It still has the all day wear  thanks to  a "blend of silica plates of mica and natural kaolin to thicken and grab each lash " and the wand/brush seems to be the same as the original. The shade of black is also the same very deep black .

 Verdict- The new Opulash Optimum Black is even better than Opulash. If you liked the former,  you might need to try the latter.

The MAC Me Over Contest Winners/New Collection

MAC ran a contest last year called MAC Me Over inviting people to submit why they needed MAC'd over. These are the winners in an exclusive  video. I love that they included  a guy and a woman over 50. She is the most beautiiful to me, she is gorgeous and looks fabulous .

There is are 3  corresponding  makeup collection  coming  late August that will include  Artists’ favorite Nudes and Pinks, including old favorites and new LE shades; as well as  one that  goes bold,  with trend-based shades while the second plays it cool-toned. And there are great  brushes: a new 211 Pointed Liner Brush as well as a limited-time bring back, the 226 Small Tapered Blending Brush.  There will Quads, Shadesticks , Nail Lacquer and most exciting , to me at least,  more Fluidlines in :

MAC Colourizations Double Feature Eye Duos

Colourizations are pocket sized duos of contrasting eyeshadows. The compact measures 3" x 1  1/2 ". There are 8 colorways called Double Features .  I have to say I think some of the pairings are a bit odd, but if you want something a little different than these might be for you. Also they don't have to be used together if you happen to like both shades but not at once . The green/teal shadows are especially nice as is the darker shade in Double Feature 5 which is dark brown with green pearl . I've numbered each for reference.

These will be on counter August 4th and will sell for 25.00.Nordstrom and The Bay get them first.

MAC Semi- Precious Eyeshadows

Within the Semi -Precious collection from MAC are 12 eyeshadows. I'm showing 3 of my favorites - Dark Indulgence, Blue Sheen and Mineral Mode.

Mineral Mode is the one that really caught my eye. It goes on light and champagne looking, nothing too different , but I love the veins of color here. They make it special . More so to me than the deeper shades.

MAC Semi- Precious Mineralize Skinfinish Swatches- Pearl & Rose Quartz

Semi -Precious from MAC is  an entire collection of  Mineralize as well as four new Split Fibre brushes , lipsticks and Cremesheen Glass. There are Mineralize Eyeshadows, Blushes and Skinfinishes. 

First up the Skinfinish. Two of the four available-  Semi -Precious Pearl and Semi- Precious Rose Quartz.  I am a big fan of Skinfinish in general and these get my love too. My favorite items  of the collection. They  can be used as a highlighter , a  blush or  blend the two  circles together for a new shade.
