Estee Lauder New Wicked Green Nail Lacquer

Eatee Lauder has revamped the Pure Color line of lipsticks and nail lacquers.  Within the nail shades are some fun and edgy shades for the brand, created with help from Creative Director Tom  Pecheux.  One of these is Wicked Green.

Wicked Green is a creme but has high shine.  The other flat shade I tried  True Red also has major shine . Personally I love that. The picture, while not the best shot, is without top or base coat. I have on 3 coats of the polish.  It applied a little streaky on first coat and second was good but still not quite as opaque as I prefer. For contrast, the True Red went on full opaque color in one coat. The color is a medium deep green. Think the British Racing Green of a Jaguar.

The new Pure Color line is in stores now. The new formula is said to be long lasting and uses True Vision patented technology for rich color.

There are 8 shades in the permanent line and 8 shades that are LE and exclusive to Nordstrom. Wicked Green is an LE.

Retail is $ 19.00

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Sea Star Bronzing Blush

I love the Bronze Goddes collection each year from Estee Lauder. First of all because all the bronzes and golds are perfect for me and of course there's the re -release of the Bronze Goddess fragrance.

They always add in some new items to love and this season it's new Bronze Goddess Soleil fragrance ( read my review at Beautystat here ) and  the  also new Bronze Goddess Sea Star Bronzing Blush .

Not only is this super pretty , it's also very wearable. The colors will suit most anyone ( only a tiny bit of  overspray here by the way) . The bronze is not deep but a soft medium shade with  light pinky peach in the starfish. It looks glowy and warm on .  As the name says it more blush than bronzer but can be used as both.

LE and available now for $34.00

Estee Lauder Holiday Extravagant Gold Eye Palette

Estee Lauder's new Holiday eye palette- Extravagant Gold may be , for me personally, one of the best palettes ever. Not that I would have said that when I first saw the images of it and I had no idea just how nice it was.   Why ? It's packed with golds, bronzes and neutrals. All are shades I wear almost every day .  This could easily be a  staple group of shadows . If like me, you wear these colors all the time and look best in  them, it's worth checking out. Packaging is pretty, the shadows are long lasting  and you have  them all in one.

The Extravagant Gold Eye Palette is $ 42.00 and LE.

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Solid Perfume

One of the best scents Estee Lauder has ever done in my mind is Bronze Goddess, or Azure Soleil as it was first called. Thankfully they have been re-releasing it each summer and I've just seen this solid fragrance pendant. I adore solids, I adore Bronze Goddess. I need to check this out asap.

Solid forms of fragrance are usually much stronger and they tend to last longer. This could be the perfect form of Bronze Goddess.

If you haven't tried it yet, well you must. It smells of suntan lotion, tiare flowers, coconut, the beach.

The scent is also available in all the usual forms, body oil, skinscent and body lotion as well as another new one- sunscreen for face.

$ 75.00 for .5 oz solid perfume

Tom Pecheux for Estee Lauder at Derek Lam

Estee Lauder made their first foray into makeup for a fashion show when legendary Tom Pecheux, new creative director for the company, created the makeup for Derek Lam using Estee Lauder, including some new colors.

One look at the models faces tells you that Mr. Pecheux will definitely be shaking things up for the brand when his first color collection hits counters this fall.

In a quote appearing in Style.com's Beauty Counter blog he said :“I can’t destroy the heritage of that company,” Pecheux joked. “I just want to bring in a little fashion, some fantasy, naughtiness, and above all youth—a word that they truly own but don’t use enough" .

The copper eyeshadow is a new Pure Color shade and was used on the lips as well.

Estee Lauder Blacker Than Black

It's hard to beleive that Estee Lauder has gotten in on the black makeup trend, but they have. They have done it in a more wearable way than some or maybe just a toned down version.

The new eyeshadow quad, which is a permanent addition, is Black Smoke and has lightest to darkest shades. The line also has the deepest black in every mascara formula they make. So no matter which you love best, you can have it blacker.

I tried the Double Wear, and I have to say it wasn't that dark. Now I don't like deep black mascara, so that was fine by me. It's a little darker than normal but no way will you have soot lashes. The mascaras are LE.

To achieve the intense jet black color, the scientists at Estée Lauder maximized color intensity
and opacity using select Carbon Black and Black Iron Oxides and putting the pigment through
an ultrasonic process.

These are the mascaras and their shade name:

-Double Wear Zero-Smudge Lengthening Mascara in Blacker Black
-Sumptuous Bold Volume Lifting Mascara™ in Bold Black
-Projectionist High Definition Volume Mascara in Jet Black
-TurboLash All Effects Motion Mascara in Turbo Black
-MagnaScopic Maximum Volume Mascara in Black
-More Than Mascara Moisture Binding Formula in More Black

Estee Lauder Sumptous Color Mascara

Colored mascara was rampant in the 80s , it was also very bold. Colored mascara has been making a comeback but in a much more subtle way. I had a great Bourjois burgundy a few years ago that you could barely tell was colored. Now Estee Lauder has a full line of colors in their nice Bold Volume Lifting formula.

The shades are much deeper than the images on the company's website. I have tried the green( Emerald), burgundy( Garnet) and brown( Amber). Now brown is easy, I love brown in general some days. It works for my coloring and is dark enough. Amber is a deep brown but not as dark as the black browns of drugstore brands. Emerald is bright in the tube , but again on, looks very dark and not in your face green. Just pretty. The wine colored Garnet is a fav. A Burgundy can just look so nice at times , a little different than black but still a deep , rich color. Amethyst and Sapphire round out the colors.

These are fun to play with , and the formula gives good length, volume and some curl. It holds up really well and doesn't smudge .

*Pictured are swatches of Amethyst and Garnet, Garnet also on the wand/brush. ( keep in mimd they seem brighter here too, due to white background and flash)

$ 19.50 each at all counters and online.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Lipstick & Pencils

Estee Lauder is expanding the Double Wear line again. So far I've liked most of the line, with the powder foundation being an all time favorite.
New are Double Wear Stay In Place Lipsticks and Lip Pencils.

The lipsticks are very nice , I have Cinnamon which is a bit darker than I normally wear, but a nice shade for those with olive to dark skins. The red is a perfect red and very much what you need in a red- long wear.

I get about 3 hours of wear out of mine. It dries down more to a stain after a couple hours and some drinking. Whats nice is that it is very smooth and not dry at all. The pigment is very deep. These are comfortable on the lip and never look cakey.

I loved the lipliners best of all , and found that they made great lipcolor on their own. I filled in the whole lip, added a bit of balm on top for some sheen and to blend . The application lasted hours and the colors are great.

There are 12 shades of Doublewear Lipstick ( $ 22.00 each):
Stay Rose, Stay Pink,Stay Pinkberry, Stay Raspberry, Stay Mauve, Stay Plumberry, Stay Mocha, Stay Ginger,Stay Coral, Stay Scarlet, Stay Cranberry and Stay Ruby.

Shades of Double Wear Lip Pencil ( $ 19.00) are :
Pink, Fuschia, Rose, Wine, Plummy, Tearose, Spice, Mocha, Chocolate, Tawny, Coral, Apple Cordial, Red and Russet.

Estee Lauder Sensuous Gold Collection

This month Estee Lauder brings out Sensuous Gold, a very pretty collection of golds and pinks all encased in rose gold .
Rose gold, the real thing, is so beautiful, so I immediately loved the compacts. ( Even the Dad thought they were pretty). Whats inside is nice too.

The 5 Tone Shimmer Powder is soft, easy to blend and apply, and imparts a nice medium wash of color. Not pale, nor too harsh. This will be a permanant piece for EL.

I have raved before about my love of the Signature lipticks. They are the real deal. A rich, full, creamy lipstick. All shades are LE as are the rest of the line.

The eye quads are similar but not the same . The shimmer is an overspray. There are some nice muted plums and golds as well as some pink shades . The Multi Shimmer trio glosses take a page out of MACs book.

Pure Color glosses are another of my favs. I particularly liked here the Rose Gold, which is a sheer nude pink shimmer. It looked fantastic on.

The nail polish shown is a deep , eggplant shade called Black Amethyst. Very fall, very shiny. Not overly unusual but looks good all the same.

Available in August except as noted.

The full line :

-New Estée Lauder Signature 5-Tone Shimmer Powder for
Eyes, Cheeks, Face in Pink Shimmer and Bronze Shimmer $36.00( on counters in Sept.)

All My Corals

Corals are hot this year, Corals are hot period. I love them but confess I don't wear mine often enough. This summer I am trying to rectify that, so I thought I'd show some of my favorite Coral lippies. Some of these are put now, some were LE from previous year, but I love them so they're included.
Coral really is a huge trend for summer, so this is a great time to try them. Maybe you'll find one to love. If you already have a favorite, let me know in comments.

From left to right :

MAC Dazzleglass in Smile- a light but so pretty sheer coral/peach. Great on it's own or as a topper to a brighter coral. Lighter than it looks in photo.

MAC Aristo-Chic- This was part of an LE Christmas 2007 set. It's a brown/nude coral . Non shimmer and more muted than the brights.

Maybelline Peach Scene- This is from their new Color Sensational line. These new lippies are great and right up there with higher end ones in every way except price. Peach Scene is a bright peach/coral hybrid.

Estee Lauder Signature Lipstick in Princess Grace Coral- Another LE from last summer. Created to honor Princess Grace, this one is the boldest of all of them I think, which might be fitting. So pretty, but a hard one for me to pull off.

Estee Lauder Pure Color Crystal in Crystal Coral- Full of shine and color. Also from last year but might still be available. If not, they should have one close in shade.

Gueralain Kiss Kiss Maxi Shine in Grenadine Shine- Another glossy coral. Loads of color , part of the Spring collection this year and on counters now.

Guerlain Rouge G in Gil- The ultimate of the corals in the most luxe case. This one is so creamy and the color so pure, but not too bright. Very wearable and blends so well with their sheer orange gloss in Orange Interdite.

Estee Lauder for Breast Cancer Month Awareness

For the next week or so I will be highlighting many of the products now available with donations/proceeds going to Breast Cancer Charities and Research Foundations. As I am sure you know October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I lost a beloved grandmother to the disease many years ago, so am happy to help support anything that may help eradicate this hideous disease. Total Beauty also plans a month long campaign of which I will be part of. More to come later on that.

There has been some controversy in the past over which organizations were donating how much to whom, and where the money went etc. It is obviously up to you whether or not to support by buying these items , but I can tell you that the Estee Lauder companies are very dedicated to the cause and all proceeds go directly to research. My take is, if it's something you have been wanting( say the Jo Malone Red Roses cologne, gorgeous stuff), or if it's time to stock up on a product you always use ( Like Dramatically Diffferent Clinique, which my mom has used for at least 20 years), then why not buy it now? Many of the products have a specific dollar amount from each one sold that will be donated so you know exactly whats what. These are highlighted here. I like knowing what the exact donation is myself, and had a feeling you might too.

Today features many of the Lauder companies offerings , many of which make great gifts. I already have the lipstick set picked out for an aunt. EL donates to the BRCF which was founded by Evelyn Lauder.

-Aveda Hand Relief $ 21.00, $ 4.00 from each donated

-Bumble and Bumble Classic Hairspray $ 11.00, $ 1.00 from each donated

-Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion 6.7 0z $ 35.00, $ 10.00 from each donated

-Clinique Butter Shine Lipstick in Ribbon Pink $ 16.50, $ 10.00 from each donated ( this is a pretty pink and one of the best for large donation vs. sale price)

-Darphin Predermine Wrinkle Corrective Serum $ 205.00, $ 20.00 from each donated

-Ojon Revitalizing Mist $ 26.00, 20 % of sales from October donated

Estee Lauder , Bobbi Brown, Donna Karan fragrances, Tommy Hilfger, Jo Malone ,La Mer origins, Prescriptives and Sean John are all making one large donation in connection with their products and many have special items/bottles for the month:

-Jo Malone Red Roses cologne and bath oil( truly an amazing true rose)

-Bobbi Brown Pink Ribbon Collection Lipstick and gloss set

-Estee Lauder Beautiful perfume, Perfectionist CP+ , Evelyn Lauder Lip Color Collection, Elizabeth Hurley High Gloss collection , jeweled ribbon pin and Jay Strongwater set

-Lab Series for Men Daily Moisture Defense

-Creme de La Mer

-Origins Peace of Mind On The Spot Relief

-Prescriptives Pink Ribbon Collection

-Tommy Hilfer Dreaming and Hilfiger for Men

-Sean John Unforgivable for women and men

-Donna Karan Cashmere Mist

Tops of 2007

Annie over at Blogdorf Goodman has organized her annual end of the year “ Best “ lists from fellow bloggers. I am happy to be here for my first year. Many of my favs are ones that I have reviewed in past posts, but at least you know I really do like/use what I talk about and review. The list tends to be fragrance heavy as well, but many good ones hits the stores this year. It is also not in any particular order.
Feel free to weigh in with your “ Best Ofs “, and Happy New Year.

Guerlain Iris Ganache- My favorite release of the year I think. Guerlain had some great releases, and this one I splurged on. Cool , crisp and ever so slightly gourmand. The ganache note is just the right touch of chocolate. Not heavy or cloying, but more pastry like. It blends with the chilled iris and lasts super long. Honorable mention goes to the company’s Spiriteuse Double Vanille, a stunning warm , smoky vanilla. I don’t normally go for vanilla, and the tobacco note is hard for me to like, but all together this is one winner.

Couvent des Minimes Hand Cream- At last years after Christmas sale at Bath and Body Works I got a tube of this. I had already gotten the gift set for 2 people. The holiday scent was orange cinnamon so I had to have it. I love it,as did every gift recipient. I think it’s even better than the original L’Occitane which this seems to be a copy of. Really rich but not greasy, it sinks in, smells wonderful and really gets the job done. I have since gotten backups in the Honey Lemon scent. At the sale this year they are in the 75% off bin and sell for 1.10. Well worth it, and since I think they may be being discontinued, stock up while you can.

Maybelline Superstay Silky Foundation- If someone had told me that I would try a Maybelline foundation, a non oil free one no less, and that it would turn out to be so good and make my skin look so perfected that people would tell me how good I looked, I would never have believed it. (Not that I have a bias against drugstore brands, I am a huge fan of L’Oreal Foundations). Maybelline has done some decent ones in the past but none have overwhelmed me until now. Superstay Silky is a base and foundation 2 part-er that comes out together. Sometimes I don’t even use the primer side, but either way my skin looks great, completely covered and not too heavily made up.

Nioxin Shampoo- I never thought I needed a specialized shampoo. I have easy to deal with hair, but after trying this I was amazed at how much better my hair looked, styled and most of all held on to color. They tell you this line is made for colcor rentention, and I never knew what a difference there was until I used this. Even my hairdresser noted how long the color lasted compared to previous times.

Mac Tendertones- MAC came out with a lot of goodies this year, and many are favs, but to pick one would be Tendertones. I have Purring, which has a just there orange tint, full of shine and some shimmer. Best of all they really moisturize. I love a good lip conditioner and these totally fit the bill. They have it all in one, and I think would be the only lip product you would need if, say, you found yourself in Aspen or Telluride, ready for skiing or sleighriding wrapped up in your shearling. Not that I’ll be there. Sounds good though, doesn’t it? . At least I do have a shearling and a sleigh.

By Kilian- one of the best perfume lines launched recently. Some have been put off by the pretentious sounding PR copy on the website, but forget all that. Kilian Hennessey is totally unlike that in person. He is very nice, and super informed about all things perfume. His line of six scents is fun, unique, sophisticated and smells great. Beyond Love is my favorite, a creamy tuberose with a hint of animalic notes that are barely perceptible.

Parfums MDCI- The best of the new releases, edging By Kilian just a bit. What a year to have 2 great French perfumes lines introduced and to have been fortunate to meet both Frenchman behind them. Claude Marchal is totally charming, and really wants people to love his perfume. His bottles are hand created works of art, and the fragrances within, worthy of the bottles. These say Tres Chic all the way. My favorite of the 3 is Rose de Siwa, I feel so elegant when wearing this.

Estee Lauder Signature Lipstick- It isn’t always easy to put a new spin on lipstick. Estee Lauder this year did it well. The new lipsticks are full coverage, super creamy and come in a wide choice of colors. They also have a very old school pretty case that has some good weight in your hand. Everyone I know who has tried them loves them.

Clarins Color Quench Balm- Hands down the best moisture giving, color depositing gloss/balm. Not new, but it was to me, as I got with a gift card after Christmas last year. Loaded with shea butter, it is super soft and creamy on, and will keep your lips moist all day, all winter. The line is also rich color drenched. You can get pale shades, as well as reds, oranges, and nice neutral browns like mine. At last a lipgloss that does it all. The color lasts long, and it has a great fruity scent.

Neil Morris’ Dark Season Perfume. This one makes it in under the gun, as I just got a sample this week. A winter comfort scent containing balsam fir needle, cinnamon, dark vanilla, myrrh and more. Inspired by a winter in Finland, with outdoors-y and indoors warm notes.

Johnson & Johnson Soothing Naturals Soothe and Protect Balm- a convenient stick that can be used on lips, hands etc. Great for when you don't want to apply hand lotion all over i.e after you just did your nails.

Clinique Zero Gravity Repairwear Lift Firming Cream- at last an anti-aging product that I can use all the time and not break out from as it comes in a version for combination oily-oily skin. I get the anti-aging benefits and some moisture but just a little. Perfect. It really does firm, and make the skin look good. My number 1 skin product right now.
