Sally Hansen Salon Effects Nail Polish Strips Holiday 2011

I spotted at Rite Aid today the holiday Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail color strips. They're very cute. The pictures are  from my phone and not great but you can get an idea. There's a candy cane stripe, a red plaid , a snowflake print  and more.

 Have you seen any at your local stores yet? I am addicted to these, I get over 2 weeks of wear from them and so many compliments. No maintenance and long wear has me sold along with the fun prints.

essie Winter 2011- Cocktail Bling

essie's winter nail polish collection will hit stores in October. The colors are inspired by precious gems worn when hobnobbing at holiday cocktail parties.

Deborah Lippman's New Glamorous Life Nail Polish

Debuting this winter is a hot new shade from Deborah Lippmann called Glamorous Life. It's a rose gold metallic , inspired by a rose gold Rolex ( good one, right ?) that took three years to perfect and was used on the models at Badgely Mischka Spring 2012.

Nails Inc St. John's Wood & Farrington Gold Crackle

St. John's Wood is my favorite of the Nails Inc shades I've tried so far. It's also a shade I didn't have in the stash, a  deep periwinkle.  It shows a little more blue in the  picture but it really is periwinkle . I did 2 coats here and I did 2 as thats's what I usually do, but  Nails Inc is pigmented enough for 1 coat.
I did the tips with Farrington Crackle Top Coat  which has converted me to the Crackle finish. I've tried some before but  dark shades . Farrington looks like gold leaf and I love it. I think it makes  a perfect mix with the  St. John's Wood periwinkle. I've had fun with this mani this week. ( Sephora color swatch  shown below, which shows more purple).

essie Fall 2011

essie's  fall collection is based around the love of  classic handbags with names like Carry On and Power Clutch. The shades are all cremes, mostly subdued , polished looking and ladylike. They're also very fall like.

My favorites are Carry On, a deep wine and simply pretty, Glamour Purse, an almond shade  as I love nudes  and beiges and this is not quite nude but a bit deeper and Very Structured , the most unexpected shade here as it's rust.

 I bet rust is one you don't have in your stash. In my considerable stash of polish going back, yes, 20 years I can think of one orange- rust frost, and one toffee with a hint of rust, Toffee Twist from Revlon.  They are out there I am sure but it's just not a shade you see a lot of. I don't think it's one that everyone will gravitate to either, but I like it because it's different, it matches my coloring and not everyone else will be wearing it. It's also very fall and very 70's feeling to me.

I hope to get some images of a few shades on my nails soon, but I can tell you that they run very color true to what's in the bottle .  For now we  have the whole new line in their bottles to ogle.

UK based nail brand  Nails Inc. are now at  selected  US Sephora stores  and online. I got a preview last  month of some of the line including amazing holiday kits that you will definitely want to fill your stocking with. And because I am a total Anglophile I love that all shades are named after UK places and towns.

Nails Inc. has a huge following in the UK and along with nail lacquers, has 3D  glitter  and Crackle topcoats . Plus those gorgeous crystal topped special edition bottles .

Rainy days giving me blues - - So what do i do ? Paint my nails with the brightest colors I have to uplift my mood  :)

Chanel Peridot Nail Lacquer

Chanel Peridot has been getting all the nail buzz for months. I know I've been waiting to try it and now that I have -I can say it is all that  . It's  beautiful nail polish that flashes green and  gold  and is highly metallic.

The formula is a bit thick but it still goes on well.  Image is 2 coats over base coat, no top coat.   As I said it flashes green and gold and I get plenty of green in certain lights , bright light seems to make it more molten gold.   I did use flash in the top picture  and that one shows the green side more.  But the flash image of the bottle is all gold . Non -flash image shows some of the green.  Definitely a duochrome shade here.

Peridot will make a great fall color but I am wearing it now.  The shade is  good for summer as well and will make a fabulous pedi shade. It begs to be shown off in sandals.

Deborah Lippmann Fall Nail Shades

2 new  shades that Debroah Lippmann is sending out for fall have caught my eye. The hunter green Billionaire and the rusty red Brickhouse. Green has gotten more popular but I think you can't get enough  and I rarely see reds that lean rust.

MAC Little Girl Type Nail Polish ( from Quite Cute)

 For the lavender lovers there's new Little Girl Type polish from MAC's Quite Cute collection. I am loving the lavender nail look that we've seen this season and put this on right away.

The shade somehow makes your hands look more tan and with a (self) tan would pop even more. It's really pretty  and  I've been looking for a lavender polish.

It took 2 coats to get  an almost opaque finish and really 3 would have been best.  As much as I love this color, the formula isn't thrilling me.   I didn't like the streakiness and after just 3 days I've got some chipping.  I have been hard on my nails but 3 days is still pretty fast. ( Photo is with base coat and top coat).

Estee Lauder New Wicked Green Nail Lacquer

Eatee Lauder has revamped the Pure Color line of lipsticks and nail lacquers.  Within the nail shades are some fun and edgy shades for the brand, created with help from Creative Director Tom  Pecheux.  One of these is Wicked Green.

Wicked Green is a creme but has high shine.  The other flat shade I tried  True Red also has major shine . Personally I love that. The picture, while not the best shot, is without top or base coat. I have on 3 coats of the polish.  It applied a little streaky on first coat and second was good but still not quite as opaque as I prefer. For contrast, the True Red went on full opaque color in one coat. The color is a medium deep green. Think the British Racing Green of a Jaguar.

The new Pure Color line is in stores now. The new formula is said to be long lasting and uses True Vision patented technology for rich color.

There are 8 shades in the permanent line and 8 shades that are LE and exclusive to Nordstrom. Wicked Green is an LE.

Chanel Graphite Nails from Fall 2011 RTW

Thanks to the folks at Style.com we have a look at the new fall nail lacquer from Chanel. I'd been admiring in the show shots as it flashed green but also grey metallic. In other words, it looked hot. There's a matching , amazing eyeshadow look on the models as well. I've got the full breakdown and more images here.

Deborah Lipmann Yellow Brick Road Nail Polish- as seen on Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga debuted a new yellow nail shade last at the Grammys. It's by her longtime nail artist Deborah Lippmann and called Yellow Brick Road. It's due to be released on April 15   and is a jelly finish .

I love yellow nail polishes , especially for summer, so I'm into this. But it's not a shade for everyone. How about you? Would you buy/wear it ?

Revlon & Gucci Westman for Rag and Bone Fall 2011

 

Gucci Westman  not only Revlon's global artistic director,  but also wife of Rag and Bone's David Neville, as usual did the makeup for their  recent show.  The look was called " Urban Eskimo" and featured ruddy cheeks and skin that looked a little sun or wind burnt.

All products used were by Revlon.

Cheeks were done with Cream Blush in Berry Flirtations.  The inner rim of eyes had Revlon's Luxurious Color Eyeliner in Black Velvet, blended with Illuminance Cream Shadow in Wild Orchid  along with  Matte Eyeshadow in Rich Sable  across lids and underneath the lower lash line.

 Lips were barely there with just a bit of color from a  multi -use palette called Bordeaux in the Snow ,that was pressed into models' mouths

Nails were a steel colored grey called appropriately Steel Her Heart and done by Jin Soon Choi.
