Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Eye

For your cold weather eye needs Kiehl's has out new Midnight Recovery Eye.  It's a companion  to last year's Midnight Recovery Concentrate , which I  ended up really liking despite being afraid of the oils.

What's nice about this new  eye cream is that it's  moisturizing, but not heavy or sticky. It has light feel , you only need a little and it sinks right in. I like it for the moisture but it also , according to Kiehl's, has great effect on puffiness. That I can't attest to.

mark Get Defensive Eye Cream W/ SPF 15

Many people are starting to say it's the end of summer, I'm not one of them but regardless of where you fall time wise, there are still 21 days of summer on the calendar and the sun shines year round ( almost) so eye cream with an SPF is a must of mine.

And while I'm quite late in posting this, I've been using mark Get Defensive Eye Cream all summer for day. It's what I would call a medium cream, not as heavy as  my shea butter infused winter one, but not so light as to feel like you've put nothing on. It adds just the right amount of moisture , sets quickly so applying makeup isn't a problem and it has that SPF which isn't easy to find in eye creams.

Ingredients include Maqui Berry for antioxidants and Licorice Root for brightening.

L'Oreal Age Perfect Golden Balm Eye Cream

In the past as much as I have liked many L'Oreal cosmetics (mainly foundation and mascara ) I never really went for any of their skincare.  New this month  are two products called Golden Balms. When I tried the Golden Balm for eyes, I went for it in a big way.

Part of the Age Perfect group, Golden Balm for eyes is an incredibly creamy and soothing eye cream. It's like butter for your eyes. Just the kind I like for my dry  eye area, especially  for nightime use. A little goes a long way and it sinks into skin  but is very moisturizing . The moisture lasts  too.

Now  the packaging says it for "mature" and  thinning skin . I am neither of those ( Age Perfect is  their more mature over 50 line) . When it comes to  eye cream , the richer the better no matter what the supposed age range is. Now the corresponding face cream Golden Balm would be way too much for my face but  it's is also another super creamy, smooth cream.  In other words, use what works for you.

So bottom line, for the first time I am really impressed with a L'Oreal skincare product.

Golden Balm uses many essential oils  including Apricot Kernel Oil, Rice Bran Oil and Passionfruit Seed Oil .

It also has Shea Butter ,  Calcium  and Caffiene and is meant to not only moisturize but de-puff  and help with circles.

MAC Mega Metal Eyeshadows from Peacocky

Mega Metal Shadow is a new eyeshadow from MAC featured in the Peacocky collection hitting January 6.

These are super frosty, deeply pigmented and blend well. The formula is creamy feeling.  Being a metallic lover as well as sparkle, I am loving these. Gold tinged taupe Prance is my favorite of the 3 I have tried.

Yes To Blueberries Eye Firming Treatment

It's rare  that I look at drugstore eye cream. Bordering on never. But eye creams are also one of those products I use a lot and am always looking out for. So when the new Yes To Blueberries eye cream( full name Yes to Blueberries Age Refresh Eye Firming Treatment) landed on my desk I was more than willing to give it a test run.

I have always liked that they Yes To line is filled with antioxidants and they have some great products.   

So what's  the scoop? The new Eye Treatment is very firming, I noticed a tightening of the eye area right after using. It's moisturizing but light. The lotion is on the thin side for an eye product, but that doesn't really affect much. You just need to use a bit less and blend it.

Ingredients include : blueberry juice, paracress flower, sunflower seed oil, shea butter  and olive fruit oil.  There are no parabens, petroleum or SLS.

New Prevage Eye Treatments

Prevage has just released 2 new eye preparations that are making my eyes feel really good right now .  They are   Prevage Eye Advanced Anti-aging Serum and Prevage Eye Ultra Protection Anti-aging Moisturizer SPF 15.


The Serum is just right. Highly moisturizing but not too heavy . I haven't  used it long enough to say if it's been line minimizing, but one can hope. If it tones the skin and keeps it hydrated, then it's good by me and it has done that.   Right now I am using this every night.

The SPF  Moisturizer  has shea butter and you can tell. It's heavy and gives super moisture. As dry as my eye area is, at first I was overwhelmed with this. I used too much and my eyes stayed tacky for too long. Now that I've learned a little is all you need, I love how comforted it makes my eye area feel.   I was outside this weekend for hours in the wind and this kept  my eye area feeling good . It didn't fade away but kept hydrating.  With most of us looking at colder , windier days , this will be one to help with that.  The SPF is a plus , as it's important, I think, to have that in your eye cream.

Both have the Prevage  ingredients like Idebenone for eradicating sun damage and to help fight free radicals.

Korres Quercetin and Oak Antiaging & Antiwrinkle Eye Cream

Awhile back I tried and loved Korres Quercetin & Oak Antiageing Antiwrinkle Day Cream SPF 10 .  Korres has been expanding the popular Quercetin and Oak line and now there is an eye cream.

Meant for wrinkles, puffy eyes and circles, it addresses all the needs.

I've been using mine for about 10 days. So I can't say if it's line reducing yet . Thankfully puffiness and circles aren't an issue .   What I  like is the more natural aspect ,  the wrinkle and free radical fighters in it and that it is light but gets the job done. It's lightly moisturizing , not greasy, sinks in fast  and  feels good on the eye. There is a slight herbal smell but nothing offputting.

Quercetin is an anti-inflamatory if I recall correctly.    For allergy relief I used to use a natural vitamin blend that had Quercetan as a main ingredient. And  I had decent success in reducing allergy symptoms when using it.

In addition to the Quercetin, the eye cream also  has myrtle ( elasticity), Rhodiola rose extract( to combat puffiness)  .There are a few more you can read about on their site if you're interested .

Quercetin and Oak  eye cream is of 93 % natural content and has no mineral oil, silicones, parabens  , synthetic dyes , animal by products,  and is suitable for vegans.

Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado

One of the nicest things about fashion week in New York is that you get to visit in person places or stores you haven't been to in some time, and then discover some great product you should have tried long ago. One of those products is Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado, tested on a trip to the flagship store on 13th and 3rd yesterday.

Not only is this eye cream highly moisturizing with shea butter and avocado oil, but it has what Kiehl's calls a "water burst " effect . When you apply the cream it goes on thick, then bursts into a thinner , refreshing formula that blends easily . It's really quite neat once you try it and you have to try it to truly get the feel of it.

Chanel New Ultra Correction Lift for Eyes & Lips

The Chanel Ultra Correction Lift line has been a favorite of mine and the company adds to it occasionally. Newest are Ultra Correction Lift Total Eye Lift and Ultra Correction Lift Plumping Anti-Wrinkle- Lips and Contour.

Both products have Chanel's "key" ingredient, elemi PFA, which "delivers concentrated power to the eye or lip area for targeted firming and lifting action and activates Tensin, a natural protein .The eye version also has a "complex containing escin (a molecule extracted from Horse Chestnut) provides immediate concentrated action on puffiness and dark circles" (elemi PFA is a patent pending active ingredient exclusive to Chanel. The lip version has as well as the elemi PFA, Hilurlip a(micronized hyaluronic acid).Both are oil and fragrance free.

The Total Eye Lift moisturizes nicely, but is not heavy or greasy. It works well under makeup. It smooths, gives a firming feel and feels wonderful on . I have only been using for 2 weeks, so longer testing will show how much actual lifting happens but so far it's working nicely.

The Lift Plumping Anti-Wrinkle- Lips and Contour is an unusual product. I don't think I have ever tried a lip treatment before . This is a cream but when applied to the lips it dries down to a soft matte finish. It feels a little powdery on, but also adds a bit of moisture. It makes a nice base for lipstick/gloss .If you have lip area issues or want to prevent them ( if you are a smoker, you need this help especially) then this might be one to try. I can honestly say I am on the fence with it. I like but find the feel a bit odd. Maybe better in summer when my lips aren't chapped. I do intend to keep using it though, but maybe not every day.

L'Oreal Advanced Revitalift Eye Duo

L'Oreal's newest eye product is a two sided tube that gives you treatment for day and night. It's a nifty idea. No need for separate creams for each. Space saving.

This was my first time using any of the Revitalift line and I am all about eye creams, so I used it for 2 weeks to give it a good trial.

I liked it but don't love it. I can't see me giving up my favorite eye creams for it, but I do think it's nicely done and a good basic eye set.

I love the two sided idea. AM has SPF 15 and PM Pro-Retinol. I found both sides to be lightly moisturizing . They sink in quickly , and are not heavy. Being that I use eye cream all the time, I can't this made the tiny lines any better. About the same. It is supposed to be for deep set wrinkle. I don't know how well it would work on them. One thing I would like to know the percentage of retinol. That would give a better idea of how strong it is.

All in all, for the price ( approx. 15.00) it's worth it ( ok, no pun intended there).You need to use eye cream, and one that treats and has SPF is important. This is an all in one and easily accessible .

Peter Thomas Roth New Eye Duo & UnWrinkle Foundation

Peter Thomas Roth gives us two new weapons to help skin look fab this fall. Both are now available.

First is Eye Overhaul Duo- This is , yes, a two part product. One for day , one for night. The night side is a thick gel ,very firming and lightly moisturizing . The day cream has SPF 30 and is very moisturizing . They work well . I could feel fast firming in the night gel and the day side is a fluffy, soft cream.

The Mom tried it and she is very fussy about foundations , but this new one she labeled " fabulous" Why ? She said when she uses it around her eyes she didn't even need concealer ( and she loves her concealer ). She loved the coverage and how smooth her skin looked.

Lierac Diopti Eye Care Line

Time to talk eye creams and really good ones at that. French beauty brand Lierac is bringing out not 1 but 5 targeted new Diopti eye treatments to stores next month.

I had the chance to get advance samples of all 5 , and I used mine each night for 5 weeks to get a really good idea of it.

I also enlisted 2 other guest testers to help with some of the others.

I tested the Diopti Creme for anti wrinkle. In all honesty this is one of the best I have used. I am extremely fussy about eye creams despite not having lots of issues. I have a few very fine lines and I need moisture, thats it. After a few weeks of use, I noticed my undereye area was super smooth. It didn't even dawn on me at first it might be the eye cream, but I realized that was the only change I had made. I also saw a softening of the fine lines. Really. No they aren't gone, no cream takes them away totally,but they were less noticeable. Plenty of moisture here also but it's not heavy.

The Mom tested Diopti Lisse for firming. She used hers for weeks also. She told me it was "gold". She felt her eye area looked much better , and toned. This one also can act as an undermakeup base.

Lastly dear friend The Movie Mommy tried Diopti Cerne for dark circles. She is a full time working mom with 2 toddlers and 1 husband. She needs anything she can get to not look like what she calls "dead mommy". She also has rosacea and super sensitive skin. She too was very happy. The first treatment she's been able to use that didn't irritate her skin at all. Circles were only reduced a little, but overall she felt moisturized and brighter. She is just beginning to dip her toes into the skincare world and so far everything has made her skin flare up.

I didn't know until the Movie Mommys comment, but Lierac's eye creams are formulated for even the most sensitive skin and high tolerance.

Other highlights are a totally recyclable aluminum tube and they have an opthalmic type applicator tip to keep most contaminants out. They can each be used on their own or combined for your own recipe.

The other two treatments are : Diopti Calm- to sooth, cool and decongest the eyes. Can be used as an eye mask. This one does have witch hazel in it, so it's not going to moisturzing, but more refreshing and tightening. Diopti Gel is for puffiness.
