L'Oreal's Elnett Truck
You see a lot of very cool things during fashion week in New York and it's not always at the shows. Sometimes there are fun things the public can join in on like the L'Oreal Elnett truck that was making stops around town. Is this fun or what?

L'Oreal The One Sweep Blush- Part 2
When I first posted about these a reader asked for more info, so here we go.
These are the new duo Studio Secrets One Sweep blushes from L'Oreal . Meant to color and contour all at once they come with a wide brush that actually does work. It picks up both colors and applies them pretty well. I am a brush person, meaning good professional style brushes, so I ended up using my contour and blush brushes and did get better results. They picked up more pigment .
Speaking of pigment, the colors look bright in the pan but are semi- sheer on. They look soft and not as bright as you might think. The pink shade in the Poppy duo has more color on than the peach in the Nectar duo shown.
One nice feature is in the packaging- a large mirror in the lid above the brush. Makes for a perfect blush to carry with you for touch ups.
The One Sweep Blush should be in stores now in 4 shades.

L'Oreal Age Perfect Golden Balm Eye Cream
In the past as much as I have liked many L'Oreal cosmetics (mainly foundation and mascara ) I never really went for any of their skincare. New this month are two products called Golden Balms. When I tried the Golden Balm for eyes, I went for it in a big way.
Part of the Age Perfect group, Golden Balm for eyes is an incredibly creamy and soothing eye cream. It's like butter for your eyes. Just the kind I like for my dry eye area, especially for nightime use. A little goes a long way and it sinks into skin but is very moisturizing . The moisture lasts too.
Now the packaging says it for "mature" and thinning skin . I am neither of those ( Age Perfect is their more mature over 50 line) . When it comes to eye cream , the richer the better no matter what the supposed age range is. Now the corresponding face cream Golden Balm would be way too much for my face but it's is also another super creamy, smooth cream. In other words, use what works for you.
So bottom line, for the first time I am really impressed with a L'Oreal skincare product.
Golden Balm uses many essential oils including Apricot Kernel Oil, Rice Bran Oil and Passionfruit Seed Oil .
It also has Shea Butter , Calcium and Caffiene and is meant to not only moisturize but de-puff and help with circles.
L'Oreal Age Perfect Golden Balm Eye Cream is available now and retail is $ 19.99

Garnier Skin Naturals - Sun Control Daily Moisturizer
Hello everyone!! Today I bring another Garnier product review – this time it is Garnier skin naturals – Sun control daily moisturizer with Mexoryl SX + vitamin E. I don’t remember when I picked this one up but I have this one for quite sometime now. After almost finishing this product I think it’s about time I review it.
QUANTITY: 50 ml
PRICE: 155 rupees ( hell it was expensive!)
WHAT PRODUCT CLAIMS:
Its special formula blends a moisturizer with selected ingredients:
Formula with Mexoryl SX , a revolutionary patented molecule, to give protection from sun’s UV rays.
Vitamin E to help protect against free radicals and help delay the signs of ageing.
Glycerol and extracts of coriander to retain the skin’s moisture and prevent it from drying while nourishing.
FACTS ABOUT MEXORYL-SX: ( From Wikipedia)
Ecamsule (USAN, trade name Mexoryl SX, INCI terephthalylidene dicamphor sulfonic acid) is an organic compound which is added to many sunscreens to filter out UVA rays. It is a benzylidene camphor derivative, many of which are known for their excellent photostability.
Although there are a few different UV absorbers with the trade name Mexoryl, only two of them are widely used where approved. Mexoryl SX (water soluble) and Mexoryl XL (INCI Drometrizole trisiloxane, oil soluble). Together they show a synergistic effect in protection. The patents are held by L'Oréal. Sunscreens containing ecamsule are exclusive to L'Oréal and its brands.
BENEFITS OF CORIANDER:
Coriander has eleven vital components in the form of essential oils, Vitamin A, Vitamin C along with important minerals like iron and phosphorus. Coriander when mixed with pinch of turmeric powder, it serves as a powerful remedy against blackheads and pimples. The antioxidant and anti-fungal proprieties of coriander are ideal for treating skin dryness, eczema and other skin disorders.
MY- TAKE ON THE PRODUCT:
This cream comes in a small bottle with screw cap top. The cream is light orange in color and faintly smells somewhat like medicated cream. The smell is not overwhelming though – its fine. The consistency of the cream is also ok – not so runny which is good. I hate it when sunscreens precipitate at the mouth of the bottle.
I am scared of using Garnier products on my face so I was extra careful using this product. Most of the times I skipped using this cream for my face and applied it on my arms. Once in a while I did use this cream for my face but I took care that I don’t apply too much of this cream. I found this cream to be quite OK. It is not that bad and not that good too. It is good because it didn’t break me out whenever I used it on my face. The thing I didn’t like about it was it is greasy for a while when we apply it, it also takes a while for the cream to get absorbed into the skin. It does prevent tan so that’s a plus point there. Also glycerol prevents my skin from getting dry throughout the day which is also good. Another thing I dislike about this product is that after using this cream for days – the cream kinda gets precipitated at the mouth of the bottle which makes it messy. This cream is good for application on arms and legs – for face I will not recommend it because it makes my face oily after a while. Also this cream has SPF – 15 only - which I guess will not prove to be too useful in hot humid weathers in Mumbai and other places.
PLUS POINT:
Plus point of introducing coriander extracts in skin care product.
GOOD POINTS:
Protects from UVA +UVB rays.
Dermatogically tested.
Helps prevent skin darkening and premature ageing.
Vitamin E –delays signs of ageing and protect against free radicals.
Glycerol and coriander extract retain skin’s moisture and provides nourishment.
Travel friendly, easy to carry around.
NOT SO GOOD POINTS:
It is expensive for the quantity of product we are getting.
The cream gets precipitated at the mouth of the bottle.
Low SPF factor (SPF 15).
Takes time to get absorbed into the skin.
Love it or chuck it ? : I will definitely pass this one. I did not like the greasy feel.
Have you used this product yet ? Did you like it ?

L'Oreal Sublime Bronze Clear Self Tanning Gel
Spring is in the air ( well most days) and we are starting to throw off our winter gear and show a little more skin. That means many things, one of which , at least over here, is that it's time to think self tanner. I can bear to bare ( sorry I had to) my arms and legs in all their pale glory .
Skin after winter cover needs to be prepped to come out of hiding. Last week when it hit 75 I saw way too many arms in cami tops and legs in shorts that just weren't ready for their debut. Some embrace their paleness, I'm not one of them. I love to be tan , but minus the sun.
Self tanner is the answer and the new year brings new releases with L'Oreal bringing out an addition to their Sublime Bronze range- Clear Self Tanning Gel.
It's a spray gel, clear as it says, that gives you a light glow in a few hours and more with each application. The bottle says to use daily until you get your desired tan . I can say that with one application, while it was just a hint of color, it was a definite improvement and noticeable.
The gel dries fast but is easily blended and there's some, but not a lot of , self tan odor. About 4 hours elapsed before I saw any color. This is perfect for starting your tan. You can gradually build color while also getting a decent amount with each use. It won't take that many uses to get a good tan.

L'Oreal New Late Summer 2010 Launches
L'Oreal is ramping up for even more new releases beginning next month. L'Oreal Go 360 Clean Cleanser
I may be the last person to try the new L'Oreal Go 360 cleansers. I pride myself on being the first to try many things but I was, as you may be, not too sure about that scrublet thing.
Then my friend at Butterfly Diary tried and raved about it. Since I am also always looking for new and great cleansers , I was sold.
I went for the green one, Deep Facial Cleanser. I need deep with my oily, pore clogged skin and well I like green cleansers as a rule.
The scrublet works great and not too be worried about. It is super soft on your face , but really gets it clean. It massages lightly and you feel as if you are getting deeper clean than normal. My skin/pores looked it as well.
The Scrublet is trademarked and has 500 bristles and it pops right into the bottle for easy , no mess storage.

The cleanser itself lathers well with only a small amount and a nice, light scent. Notes in there include orange flower and mint. It's also oil free.
There are four Go 360 Clean Formulas including a scrub and a cream version.

L'Oreal Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base
Makeup bases are not something I use a lot, aside from mattifying ones on the T- Zone as I worry they'll be too moisturizing or break me out. I need the help making makeup last longer though. The new L'Oreal Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base is very matte on and has no moisturizers , so it just may work . At first I wasn't so sure even after applying makeup , but when I looked a half hour later and everything had time to really set, I was pleasantly surprised. . How it compares to other brands I can't say , but with this my makeup looked good. Matte, but not dry, smooth and perfected.
The best part here though, is that it makes a great eyeshadow base. It works better on my eyes than most eye primers I have tried. I plan to keep using it for that purpose and on the face occasionally. ( Mind you, I have no idea if you are supposed to use it near your eyes , but the box doesn't say not to).
Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base is available now in all mass market outlets and www.lorealparis.com for $ 12.95

L'Oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara

It's the length wars. New mascaras keep coming, each giving longer length than before. Available in the UK for some time, L'Oreal's newest, Telescopic Explosion, is in stores stateside now.
Telescopic Explosion has a small round ball for a wand, that looks a bit medieval but it works. It is a funny little brush but I kind of like it, though it does takes some getting used to ( you can poke your eye very easily). It gives major length . Some volume but not a lot . It can go on a little clumpy at first if you don't wipe the brush a bit, but you can comb it out. My lashes came out very long, very dark and very defined.
I don't think I'd replace my regular style wand with this permanantly but since I keep 3-4 mascaras in the rotation, I do like having this one in there. Most of us want long lashes and this did deliver.

L'Oreal True Match Foundation

L'Oreal True Match has been around for awhile but I only recently got a bottle. I've used Infallible before and liked it, but passed by True Match , thinking it might be too dewy for me.
The True Match turned out to be pretty nice. It is not matte in any way but not too dewy either. A nice, even finish that really does blend right into your skin. It's natural looking but with good coverage.
A good pick if you need to find a foundation at the mass market level. There are a lot of shades and that makes matching when you can't test easier hopefully. Plus the coverage level should suit most.

L'Oreal Advanced Revitalift Eye Duo

L'Oreal's newest eye product is a two sided tube that gives you treatment for day and night. It's a nifty idea. No need for separate creams for each. Space saving.
This was my first time using any of the Revitalift line and I am all about eye creams, so I used it for 2 weeks to give it a good trial.
I liked it but don't love it. I can't see me giving up my favorite eye creams for it, but I do think it's nicely done and a good basic eye set.
I love the two sided idea. AM has SPF 15 and PM Pro-Retinol. I found both sides to be lightly moisturizing . They sink in quickly , and are not heavy. Being that I use eye cream all the time, I can't this made the tiny lines any better. About the same. It is supposed to be for deep set wrinkle. I don't know how well it would work on them. One thing I would like to know the percentage of retinol. That would give a better idea of how strong it is.
All in all, for the price ( approx. 15.00) it's worth it ( ok, no pun intended there). You need to use eye cream, and one that treats and has SPF is important. This is an all in one and easily accessible .

L'Oreal Sublime Bronze Luminous Bronzer Self-Tan Lotion

It may be September but it's still plenty warm and I am not about to give up on my tan. My self tan ,that is.
So I have been getting my bronze on with new Sublime Bronze Luminous Bronzer Self-Tanning Lotion.
I have to say in the past L'Oreal self tanners had not impressed me. So when I got this newer one , I wasn't sure how good it would be. So I tried it, and it's really nice.
First off this gives you an immediate bronze tint, not dark but a decent bit of color and sparkle. There is shimmer in there, high shimmer. I like that but I know not everyone does. The tan appears after only a few hours and is a nice warm , deep golden tan. I got great depth of color in one app with no streaks.
This dries very fast , the self tanner smell is light to medium, not too bad at all . It is water resistant and transfer resistant. So you can get dressed quickly and not feel sticky.
This might be the best drugstore tanner I've tried. Nice to have an option to my higher end ones.

L'Oreal Extra- Volume Collagen Mascara

Extra- Volume Collagen is the latest mascara from L'Oreal. I hadn't used a L'Oreal mascara in a very long time and then got Voluminous and this one close together. Voluminious has been ok. Too natural and soft looking.
I was not thinking I'd like the Extra Volume Collagen either after seeing the ads. I hate how Eva Longoria's lashes look in them, . I though thats not what I want mine to look like ( even knowing those things are enhanced).
So I got, tried it, and liked it a lot. I get great volume and serious length and I want both , not just volume. It really gives a full look , lasts long, didn't clump and has almost no smudging until very late in the day. The waterproof version would take care of that. So this gets a thumbs up. I do wipe a tiny bit off the wand before using. The wand itself is nice. Not too huge but large. ( The size is 50% larger than tradional L'Oreal volume mascaras).
Available now at all mass market outlets with a retail of $ 7.95
