The Body Shop Holiday 2011- Candied Ginger & Cranberry Joy

The Body Shop's Cranberry is probably my all time favorite bath gel ever. I've been using it since it came out which has been at least 10 years I think.  Every year I hope they bring it back and so far they have.

Called Cranberry Joy this season, it still smells amazing and is available in a wide product range as well as those fun gift sets, which I've given as gifts an equally long time , making my friends very happy.

New  this year is the Candied Ginger scent. Candied Ginger is zesty ,  a little fruity and a little spicy - not baked goods ginger like gingerbread.  It's  slightly sweet,  fizzy  and very delish.


Candied Ginger along with the 3rd holiday scent Spiced Vanilla , also comes in  all the great Body Shop products. I'm partial to the shower gels ( $ 8.00),  hand cream ( $ 4.00), lip balms ( $ 6.00 and sooo moisturizing on lips) and shimmer lotions ( $ 12.00), which have just a little shimmer , loads of scent and plenty of moisture.

philosophy Sparkling Cranberry Set- Holiday 2011

philosophy Holiday brings new scents and new gifts sets. One is Sparkling Cranberry . The duo of an 8 oz 3in1 and lip shine comes in a beribboned tin ready to be gifted .

LUSH Dirty For Men ( & Father's Day)

What could be better for men than a Line called Dirty ? Leave it to LUSH.

 Timed right for Father's Day here in the US , these are fun, useful products that any guy would like. My dad was quite thrilled with the Springwash  shower gel   which can be used for body and hair. He said  it did really well as a shampoo. ( and despite being very much a man's man,who works in dirt most days,  he's fussy about shampoo. ) It smells of mint and herbs and can easily be unisex.

Tom Ford Neroli Portofino Collection

I've loved Tom Ford's Neroli Portofino since I first sniffed it at Sniffapalooza event years ago. It's sunny, citrus ( bergamot , lemon and mandarin orange) , floral with neroli or orange blossom and jasmine  with a bit of an amber and ambrette base  and puts  a smile on your face.

This season he has revamped the look and added a full line of  bath and body products scented with the delicious fragrance. Now in  turquoise and gold packaging, it's ready for the Riviera or your bathroom.


Between my love for all dry oils and how amazing the Azuree Soleil Oil was for Estee Lauder, the Neroli Portofino Body Oil is very much on  my wish list.

Philosophy Sugar Chick 3 in 1

Seasonal Philosophy 3 in 1 s are usually great fun. Little can top the Christmas selections for me, but I still love to explore each new release.

 Sugar Chick is, you guessed it, for Easter/Spring. It's like Peeps candy in a bottle.  More lemon  than actual Peeps but there is  plenty of marshmallow and vanilla.  This one isn't as strongly scented as some but sort of right in the middle as it's not too light either. 

The perfect "sweet" treat for Easter baskets everywhere.

Dove VisibleCare Crème Body Washes

Looking for a great new body wash ? Love moisturizing ones , but maybe  not ones that are too heavy ?  Then take a look at new Dove VisibleCare Crème Body Washes.

 I have to admit I'm not the biggest fan of creamy body washes. I use them when it's really cold because they do work but I'm more of a gel or at least creme-gel fan. So when the chance came to try these new Dove washes, I thought  why not ?I love trying new things but at the same time didn't expect them to be anything special.

The thing is- these are different . And really nice. They are not a thick cream, but a  mousse almost.   With the Nutrium Moisture of past Dove offerings, these are very light  and  soft , they add moisture , cleanse and then rinse clean.  I've been using the Softening one ever since I got it. It has a nice scent, a little of the Dove  soap  fragrance along with some florals.

Tone Vino Moisture Body Wash

Tone's new body wash features crushed grape , shea butter and vitamin E.   This new wash is  a cream/ gel , more gel than cream ,  very moisturizing and smells great.

The scent is of grapes but not soda sweet or candy grape, but more a plum or concord one. It's not a strong scent but just pleasant enough.

Tone Vino Moisture with Crushed Grape and Shea Butter will  be in stores February/March and retail will be $ 3.99  .

philosophy Fall 2010 and Crispy Marsmallow Bars 3 in 1

Fall 3 in 1s have arrived from philosophy.   One of the new scents  is Crispy Marshmallow Bars. This smells caramelized vanilla nutty, and is a fairly light scent, but oh so good. 

 Candy Corn, called i love Candy Corn, makes it's  welcome return and also new is Cookies and Cream.  I gave Candy Corn bottles to both my dad and uncle and they were mad for them.  Both are  big, tough guys who normally use Lever 2000 or such,  so you know these  are not for ladies only.

Tone Daily Detox Purifying Body Wash

Tone's newest body wash is Daily Detox Purifying Body Wash with White Clay & Pink Jasmine .

It's a creamy body wash with white clay ,vitamin e, and pink jasmine . The white clay is the detox part, as it is a purifying ingredient. You see it a lot in skincare for oily prone skin . It washes off the grime of the day basically.

The wash has a floral/jasmine scent and is creamy and moisturizing but not heavy. Some others have been almost too creamy at times. I find them best for winter, Daily Detox is fine for the warmer weather too.

Bath and Body Works Summer Vanillas

It's been awhile since a new scent at Bath and Body Works got my attention. I do like the new Orange Sapphire , but in April is Summer Vanillas and this is a really good one. It's unusual I like them so much because I am not really a vanilla fan.

These vanilla blends are more about the fruit, with a small helping of vanilla. The Coconut Vanilla smells just like a Pina Colada. The Apricot is my favorite being a ripe fruit layered over ice cream scent and then there is a great citrus-y lemon , and a berry. Something for everyone, or maybe all for everyone ? Having tried all but the berry I can tell you these smell very, very good.

These come in the full line of body spray, shower gels, lotion as well as new Cooling Mist and Tasty Lip Gloss.

Dial NutriSkin Body Wash

Dial has been ramping it up lately. Really, Dial is one of the last brands I would have expected great smelling products from. It's always been just soap. First there was the Cranberry , which amazingly to me rivaled many other bath lines for great scent. I actually wanted something Dial, who knew ?

Now there are two new moisturizing shower gels called NutriSkin. These new gels have fruit oil moisture micro- beads in there, so you get a gel but moisture too. I have the Cherry Seed Oil & Mint . It doesn't quite beat the Cranberry for smell but it is nice. The scent is lightly cherry but since it's based on the seed oil, it's not strong, medicinal or candy cherry. The mint is barely there.

The gel lathers nicely and moisturizes like crazy but is not heavy. Great for this time of year and the pink bottle gives it girly flair for the bath. .

The other scent is Grapeseed Oil & Lemongrass which sounds rather nice too.

Philosophy Holiday Preview

Last week I had the chance to get a sneak look and sniff at the holiday line up from Philosophy. If you know this brand, you know they go big at holiday time and this year might be the best yet. I loved everything.
