YSL Volupte Sheer Candy

YSL Volupte Sheer Candy may be the silkiest , smoothest lippie you will ever try. It's really more of a balm, a glossy balm,  and the sheerness of color reflects that. I haven't tried all the shades but have N. 3 Juicy Grapefruit and it's a super sheer, barely there pink  with tiny shimmer.

These are highly moisturizing with 35 %  of ingredients being for lip care including hyaluronic acid.  They are said to moisturize , plump and smooth. All I know is they feel wonderful and smell delicious . The mango scent is practically aromatherapeutic.

There are 6 new shades in all , coming in a stunning silver  case .

Shade list :

N°1 - Lush Coconut, a touch of golden freshness

N°2 - Dewy Papaya, a discreet orange pink pleasure

N°3 - Juicy Grapefruit, a candy pink

N°4 - Succulent Pomegranate

N°5 - Mouthwatering Berry

N°6 - Luscious Cherry

Available for $ 30.00 at  Sephora for May and all YSL locations in June.

YSL Beauty Holiday 2010

YSL Holiday is here. Loaded with lots of gold and shimmer including some metallic looking nail shades . You may have noted by now my love for metallics, so the nail shades especially look like a must.  The nail shades as well as the palette and Touche D'Or are all LE.  Available in November.

The star product is the Palette Metallic Colorama.

Per YSL :

Inspired by the new Belle de Jour “Metallic Colorama”limited edition collection of accessories, the Palette Metallic Colorama also features, both inside and out, the metallic effect and the embossed Cassandra logo.

The Palette nestles within a gold leatherette, rectangular case and comes with its own mirror.

The powder is  subtly flecked with iridescent pigments, and adds sparkle
to all complexions with its pink-champagne shimmer. Its optical highlighters catch the light and blend away imperfections.

YSL Belle D'Opium

I've had my eye on Belle D'Opium the new perfume from YSL since they had a  celeb filled preview launch party in summer.  While I wasn't into the original Opium , it's still iconic and a well done fragrance. I  also know it will never be recreated. That's not what YSL is doing here.   I had hopes for Belle D'Opium and thank the perfume gods, it's been borne out.

Belle D'Opium is lovely. It's almost a chypre, with plenty of chypre qualities and that alone is cause for celebration. So few do chypres these days . So kudos to YSL for going that route at least a little.

It's also   fruity and oriental. The beginning starts with fruit and hint of the oakmoss that categorizes a chypre.   The early notes  I get are the peach and lily , then the oakmoss and patchouli come in. I really don't get the smoke notes of narguile and incense much. There is definite amber by the drydown . Even though there are fruit notes it's not overly sweet. Far more than Opium maybe, but not as much as many other scents out there today. Nor is it as complex as Opium. Few fragrances are these days though, sadly.  It is still one of the better new scents I've tried this season.  It's all woman , not a girl nor girly.

Sillage is medium as is lasting power.  I expected major lasting with this one and  it doesn't quite live up to that.  But it is not so strong as re-spritzing during the day would be a problem. I am thinking that the body lotion here would be a great choice  .

Notes ( per Osmoz and not the official ones, so they may differ a bit )

Top notes:
Mandarin Orange, Lily, Gardenia, White Flowers

Middle notes:
Frankincense, Peach, Pepper, Tobacco, Hookah Accord( narguile), Fruity Notes

Base notes:
Patchouli, Sandalwood, Smoky Notes, Amber

$ 49.00 for 1 oz
$ 69.00 for 1.6 oz

YSL Teint Resist Foundation

After looking in many stores I finally managed to track down a sample amount of the new YSL Teint Resist foundation at a Nordstrom stop last week.

I had high hopes for this as it is supposed to be long wearing, absorb oil , look and feel great on skin. In the end I had good results but not perfect.

I love the feel of it. Thats the major selling point here for me- this foundation truly feels like you have nothing on your face. It melts right into skin and is weightless. It lasted long but not quite the 14 hours stated. I did get oil breakthrough on my T Zone , the nose ended up shiny. Even though this is considered a more matte foundation, it isn't super matte. The wear and look on the rest of the face was good.

The finish is fairly light. I expected a medium -full coverage and this is more light to medium. That's ok as long as you know you may need to build it up a bit and use more in trouble spots. It looks nice on, blends easily, and sinks right in leaving no cakey-ness. Skin looks very smooth and soft. I don't want to say natural but it's more your skin looking finished than heavier coverage.

So mostly I do like it and for the feel and look of it, that makes it tempting to buy a full bottle.

YSL Teint Resist is $ 55.00 at http://www.yslbeautyus.com/ , Department stores and Sephora.com

YSL Parisienne

When YSL released Paris the perfume years ago, I made sure to get it when it came out. Then came Paris Babydoll. I got that one quick too. Babydoll isn't quite to my tastes now, but I , as do many, still think the original Paris a great scent.

Now we have Parisienne from YSL . This one meant as a tribute to Paris and the strong woman inspired and embraced by the City of Light.

Parisienne is very pretty . I hoped it would be a good one ( you never know these days) and it is. No it's not overly innovative or new, but what it is , is simply a nice perfume.

Created by Sophia Grosjman, a very well respected parfumeur who developed Paris ,along with Sophie Labbe, Parisienne is very much violet to my nose. Now I love violet, so this is a good start. The fragrance begins very effervescent, right into the violet. It's slightly sweet due to the blackberry, but I don't smell the actual berry note too much. As it dries the rose peeks out but not strongly.

The full drydown remains violet with a slightest hint of the musk and sandalwood bottom notes.

Sillage is medium as is lasting power.

This is not a strong scent, and you don't have to worry about overkill. I am particulary happy to see that the smallest size is $ 39.00. A great price point that makes this more accessible.

Top notes: vinyl accord, cranberry and blackberry
Middle notes: Damask rose, violet and peony
Base notes: musk, sandalwood, patchouli and vetiver

If you want to explore more, begininng Oct. 12, YSL is celebrating the launch of Parisienne, and to encouraging women to find their "inner Parisienne" by going to http://www.experienceparisienne.com/ , where each a woman and her Parisienne experience is shared with other women.

YSL Water Resistant Cream Eye Shadow

This summer season has brought a few new creme eyehshadows out. All long wearing and I have had success with most of them , but the new YSL- well it wears almost like glue.

Shimmery, very creamy( a thin cream) this gives major pigment and major last. I have it in shade 2 , Amethyst Grey ( the one shown). The dark brown shade is in my future. Brown is a staple for me and to have one that will last all day would be major. It doesn't hurt that the packaging here is so pretty as well. A little YSL golden cube.

If you need a shadow that will hold up to heat, humidity and perhaps even the pool ( mine made it partially thru a shower) than this is one to try.

YSL Water Resistant Eye Shadow sells for $ 28.50
