Lancome debuts new lipstick line at Chris Benz Spring 2012

Lancome always tries  new products  during fashion week and Lancome always comes up a good one for Chris Benz . The new lip breaking here is Rouge In Love which is a 21 shade line of lipsticks . Used here is shade Sequence of Love.

"The makeup muse for Chris Benz's Spring 2012 collection was Candy Darling, a 1960's nightclub fixture who was part of Andy Warhol’s clique. With Candy and Chris’ bright colors as inspiration, lead makeup artist Daniel Martin wanted to create fresh, clean skin with a pop of color on the eyes and lips. Daniel used shades of sea foam and mint green on the eyes and then applied black gel liner for definition. For thick jet-black lashes, he applied "tons of mascara." A wash of tangerine blush was applied high on the cheekbones and Lancôme’s new Rouge in Love lipstick gave the models a bright pouty lip. "

Lancome Fall-Blush Multilumière in Maison Lancôme

Lancome Fall is on counter now and the star is this new  Blush Multilumière in Maison Lancôme ,  which will look as great now as it will in fall, if you can bear to  use it.

I haven't seen it myself in person so I need to make a trip to the counter. Have any of you looked at it or tried it yet? 

Lancome Visonnaire- Coming Soon

Come this fall Lancome has a new skin product out that looks to be the Swiss Army Knife of skincare .

Called Visionnaire  and an all in one serum,  it's said to work on wrinkles , pores and evening skin tone. It can be used day or night, in the sun , around eyes, by all ethnicties and sensitive skin .  Swiss Army Knife, right ?

According to the announcement in WWD, the  key ingredient is LR 2412 , a molecule discovered 12 years ago by L'Oreal researchers.  They say this molecule "has an affinity with water and oil at the same time and allows it to go in all compartments of the skin and be totally bio available".  LR 2412  has 17 patents and is at 4 percent concentration in the formula.


Approximate US retail will be $ 84.00.

So tell me, does this interest you ? Lancome has always made great skincare, the latest being the wonderful Genifique .  I am sure we will hear a lot more closer to the release date and I will post more info when I get it.

Lancome Ô d' Azur and Ô de L'Orangerie

For summer Lancome has added  two lovely scents as companions to it's longtime fragrance  Ô de Lancome. The original Ô was created in 1969 and is a light chypre that  is  fresh, and green with hints of citrus.  All of the Ô scents are meant to be "eaus", great to accommodate hot days with their freshness .

The two new scents  Ô   d' Azur and Ô de L'Orangerie are  more of this era and both have citrus at their hearts.  Ô de Azur was actually  released in Europe last year I believe, but is now on counters in the US.

Ô d'Azur is is brimming with citrus ( and citrus that lasts long no less) but also has a feel of warm breezes with some light woods notes and a  very light touch of rose . The top notes are Sicilian bergamot and Calabria lemon essence and  are there right off  as you spray. All the notes come together at the drydown  though, so while the citrus  lingers, it's not simply a lemon scent.

Ô d' Azur  lasts hours on me, staying fairly close to the skin but still giving off  nice light sillage. Since I've gotten this I have worn it almost each day. As a citrus lover  it's very me and the fact that I can get hours of wear makes it one I will reach for often.

Ô de L'Orangerie is the newest and will officially launch in June as a limited edition.

It's a very straightforward orange/orange blossom perfume and if those are notes you love , than you will love Ô de L'Orangerie. I have always been partial to orange blossom myself and find this to be as pretty as many of my other favorites.  Beyond the orange zest , orange blossom essential oil  and absolute, other notes are jasmine , cedar and benzoin. While those last two notes are there for grounding, they are not overly present. This is all about the sunny white floral  that's just a tiny bit indolic  and also a bit sweet.


All the Ô de Lancome fragrances are $ 55.00 for 2.5 oz and come in a newly designed, very pretty bottle that has some reminiscence of the original  Ô bottle.

Christina Hendricks Previews New Lancome at Emmys

The stunning Christina Hendricks wore the new , upcoming Lancome foundation Teint Miracle -Lit From Within  to the Emmys last night. Much of her makeup was Lancome and was done by Vanessa Scali.   Hendricks dress was Zac Posen.

The look :

Face:

Vanessa prepped the skin with Lancôme’s La Base Pro. To perfect Christina’s already luminous skin, Vanessa used Lancôme’s new Teint Miracle Lit-From-Within Makeup. “It has an amazing transparent quality that leaves the skin looking flawless and luminous without being shiny,” said Vanessa. “I applied it with a brush and then blended with my fingers.” Blending with her fingers heated up the foundation a bit, allowing for a seamless finish. Vanessa followed with Effacernes Concealer under the eyes, her “all time favorite concealer.”

Cheeks:

For a fresh pop of color I used Lancôme’s Blush Subtil Shimmer in Pink Pool on the apples of her cheeks. Dabs of Giorgio Armani Beauty’s Fluid Sheer #2 highlighted Christina’s cheekbones.

Eyes:

The eye shadow was mix of YSL’s Ombre Solo Eyeshadow in Cashmere Brown and Midnight Black. “I applied these all over her lid, under the bottom lashes and blended it out past her natural lash line to softly elongate the eye,” reported Vanessa.

Eye Liner:

To define and elongate the lash line, Vanessa lined the eyes with Lancôme’s Le Crayon Khôl in Black. “I used a touch of liner under her bottom lashes but smudged it for a softer look,” said Vanessa. For added depth, Vanessa used Artliner Precision Point Eyeliner in Noir at the very base of Christina’s lashes.

Mascara:

Several generous coats of Lancôme Définicils Waterproof Mascara in Black were used on the top and bottom lashes.

Lips:

Christina’s lips were a mix of Lancôme lip colors for an effect that Vanessa described as “red with a little dash of pink.” A sheer coat of Color Design Matte Lipstick in Corset was topped by La Laque Fever Lipshine in Cyber Coral.

Lancome's Michelle Phan Goes To Paris

Lancome's vlogger Michelle Phan is making her first trip to Paris and via the company's Facebook page, you can see many of her experiences. If you can't there yourself, you can get a little Vive la Francais this way.

Lancome Flash Bronzer Tinted Self Tanner for Legs

Lancome has updated their Flash Bronzer line. At first this put a bit of a scare into those of us who loved the old versions. People like Lucky magazine's Jean Godfrey June , who often raves about this and who, like me, uses it on her face as well as legs. She recently wrote in Lucky that she now loves the new Body version even better.

I haven't tried the Body one yet but Flash Bronzer for Legs is still tops.

This one has shimmer in it, where Body doesn't. It's very moisturizing without being sticky and has very little self tanner "smell". It dries quite fast and is transfer resistant. This all makes it very easy to use. You can do a quick application and go.

So far I've used it 3 times and have had no streaks. I get a light medium shade on my legs that lasts for several days . It is tinted but the tint is light. You look a bit more golden but nothing overwhelming.

New also for the line this year is Flash Bronzer Anti -Age, a tinted anti-aging face self tanner with SPF 15. For those who don't want an extra step of anti-ager and then applying self tanner, this does it all.

Chris Benz goes Mad Men for Resort

Many designers are showing resort collections now. Some of these shows bring us some of the nicest clothes and while they don't get as much attention as other shows, they're worth looking at.

Chris Benz seemed channel the Mad Men look for hair and makeup at his show. Makeup artist Daniel Martin calls it “1950's Californian Lady-of-Leisure" which places it before Mad Men, but the look carried over into the early 60's as well. Either way , it looks smashing on the model.

What was used :

Fuchsia lips paired with eyes that were lined on top (“just don’t call it a cat eye,” says Daniel) finished with sculpted cheeks and full, shaped brows.

To create the look, Daniel used Lancôme’s new Teint Idole Fresh Wear Foundation, Blush Subtil in Mauve Coquette and Tropiques Minérale Bronzer in Natural Sunkiss.

For the eyes, Daniel lined with Artliner in Noir and topped lashes with Hypnôse Mascara. The bright lips are courtesy of Le Crayon in Berry (all over the lip) topped with Color Fever Lipstick in Rock Icon Fuchsia.

Lancome Definicils Precious Cells Mascara

Today has been test day for the brand new Definicils Precious Cells mascara from Lancome. I have been a fan of the original Defincils for years and it's the best selling luxury mascara in the world.

Now Lancome has applied the Precious Cells ingredient Malus Domestica ( Swiss Apple) to this new mascara for conditioned , resilient lashes. Hyaluronic acid and Arginine are in there too.

You get the great definition of Definicils here obviously , but some volume as well. Lashes are very soft and I also got a lot of length . The wand is small, which I like, and is new. It has short and long bristles. The formula of Precious Cells is a creamier one and this is a wet mascara. I wipe some off before using.

Application is a breeze, it goes on smoothly, and I had no smudging issues all day. It's also made to remove easily with little to no pulling on lashes, therefore less lash fallout.

Things I Learned In NYC & at The Makeup Show

This weekend was the always fabulous Makeup Show in NYC. I got to do a short preview visit as I wasn't able to attend the show itself. The day also included a stop at the pretty Lancome boutique on the Upper West Side.

Some highlights:

- Sandy Linter is amazing. In case you don't know who she is, she is currently the Makeup For Every Age expert for Lancome , but has been in the business for decades doing fashion , Vogue covers and much more. She did a quick touch up on my eyes, that was much needed and made such a difference. All she used were gold and black pencils and Oscillation mascara. Oh and she loved my own blush application. Getting praise from Sandy Linter =priceless.

-Lancome has some great new products just out and coming soon. Stay tuned.

- OCC Lip Tars pack more pigment than anything I have ever seen . I mean, wow , in the extreme. I have used their nail polish but never the lip tars. But I have wanted to. I have Grandma , an orange/coral ( it's not as red as my image seems) and while I love it , it's way too much for me. It's bolder and more vivid than you can imagine. For darker skin tones it would be better. There are many shades and it's so thick that a droplet is all you need .

- James Vincent, makeup artist and Makeup Show co -founder is a very fun, funny guy. Ok, I knew this from past visits, but it's worth mentioning when a guy channels Aretha, Oprah and Dionne Warwick all in one short presentation.

- I think Make Up For Ever Aqua Creams will be a dream product . Waterproof, sweatproof. More to come on then once I try them. I am all about getting these asap.

- The Makeup Show is going to Europe. Possibly within a year.

-I love too many very expensive fragrances. ( No surprise there, right ?) Newly discovered- yet another Heeley, Iris de Nuit and Penhaligons Extract of Limes . Don't get me started on the Cire Trudon candles. Happily L'Artisan's new Nuit de Tuberose did not move me.

- Everyone in NYC and visiting NYC is wearing gladiator sandals. But me. I think I am over them. They just aren't flattering on.

-For the first time I saw the line at the Village locale of Magnolia Bakery for cupcakes and I tried one uptown. Popularized by Sex and the City , the Village location is busy. Here's the thing- they are just ok. Sugar Sweet Sunshine are better , and I hear Crumbs is too. Save the hour line time and try one of these places instead. Or watch them make the cupcakes in the window, so you can say you were there .

Earth Day

It's Earth Day and you will no doubt be inudated with messages and ideas and products to help the earth today. It's no different here. I've chosen a few eco-friendly options that have Earth Day promotions, but are often Earth Day everyday as well. It's important to remember it's the little things sometines and all little things count. Buying a product that is even a little bit more earth friendly is good. Unplugging the cell phone charger. It all adds up. Personally, not only do I try to recycle as much as I can, but I am extra judicious about paper. Even scrap pieces go into the recycling bin . I am also all about saving the seals, polar bears and wolves. I don't do it all, but I try do what I can and that's a start.

Elemis- There is very little Elemis doesn't do right. Their Monoi line is a favorite here. This Earth month the Exotic Lime & Ginger Travel Duo is a featured product. Pure and Natural- A line I've passed in the Target aisle more than once and finally sniffed and tried . I love a good grapefruit scent and their Renewing Pomegranate and Grapefruit smells spot on. Tart and citrus. It comes in both a shower gel and hand soap. The line uses ingredients derived from nature( 94% natural origin), is biodegradable, paraben free , and not tested on animals . The new, nicer packaging is recyclable and they are making an annual donation of $ 100,000.00 to one of my very favorite charities The World Wildlife Fund .

Lancome Color Design Matte Lipstick

Lancome's new matte is the matte for those who are not too sure of matte lipsticks. People like me. I just love my shine, shimmer or at least a little glow in a lippie. It's very hard to go matte and when I do I end up putting lip balm over them at least.

Lancome's Color Design Matte is a very creamy, very soft matte. So no dry feeling on your lips. It has some moisture and there's a lot of pigment. Lancome has used a light-diffusing gel instead of powders to achieve this texture along with waxes and emollients. So you don't need the lip balm, but I still will anyway.

The color shown is Lucky Kiss, which is a deep nude/brown.

Lancome L'Absolu Creme de Brilliance

L'Absolu Creme de Brilliance is Lancome's newest lip entry. It's a lip treatment as well as color product. The description is " Visibly Replenishing and Reshaping Lip Cream Pro-Xylane Concentrated"

That means it has Pro Xylane to help the lip area look younger as well as a serious moisture in it.

The formula is a glossy creme. Not as thick as a lipstick but more than a gloss.

The color wears decently. Like many moisturizing lipsticks it doesn't hold up as long as you would like, but the moisture stays on very long after the lipstick has worn off. I kept thinking as I wore it " what lip balm am I wearing, it's really good "? Only to realize I had put this on earlier.

The pigment in my color Amande Sucree is very good. It's a bit of a '90s brown but not flat, it has some shimmer and a bit of bronze. This has the pointed doe foot wand I loved from La Laque Fever. Not popular with everyone, I love that it gives you precise painting on your lips.

I'm liking this for easy wear to get strong color and moisture in one. Spring may be almost here but the lips still get dry. I do have to re-apply more than I'd like, but that's do-able. I also have used a base under it which gives longer wear.

Lancome and Chris Benz- Fall 2010

Chris Benz's inspiration this season was the Outward Bound Debutante. The girl who gets in trouble at her private school and gets sent to wilderness camp. You know her, the one who takes her stillettos , not realizing she'll not quite need those.

While backstage I not only got to meet the friendly and extremely calm Mr. Benz , but also a peek at a few pieces hanging on the racks. I love the plaid , it's retro, almost 60s, but I love plaid and the jeweled collars were such a wow. There was also a great metallic infused knit top, that is classic american sportswear. ( But please don't ask about those fur mittens. I don't do fur and I really don't do those).

Daniel Martin of Lancome created the look , along with Chris and calls it Gothic Chic. He went for a brown lip, very 90s, but made more modern. To get that lip he used a brow pencil and then a new for fall bronze lipstick. He explains the brow pencil technique in my video, posted separately.

We have been seeing and he agreed, that this is an upcoming trend possibly. An also new for fall eyeshadow was used and the blush is one of my all time favorites- Cappucine.

Lancome Chris & Tell Lipstick

One of the most anticipated items at last Fashion Week wasn't clothing but the new Pout A Porter lipstick from Lancome. The series had many sellouts with shades like Behnaz Red . The line is back with designer Chris Benz called Chris and Tell, and I finally got a sample to try.

It's a pretty one, too . A very creamy , non shimmer coral in the Rouge Absolu formula. Not super bright but in no way pale either. It's a bit retro but if you love coral or want to add a real pop to your lips , this will do it. Coral and peach was all the rage on the catwalk during Spring fashion week, and this is an easy way to get into the trend.

Lancome now has an official blog of their own and you need to check it out. Written by PR VP Kerry Diamond, not only do you get scoop on products , makeup artists, models and great tips on application, but there loads of contests/giveways . There seems to be at least one running all the time. Usually all you need to do is comment and you're entered.

Ms. Diamond has a very fun and friendly voice in her writing and the site is updated almost daily.
