Vena Cava and MAC Spring Fashion 2011

Vena Cava is always one of my favorite shows.  This season creators Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock were inspired by the Memphis design movement . The fabrics were flowing silks and gracefully went  down the runway. The makeup was hot , done by  Christian McCulloch  for MAC with hair by Ted Gibson and the  models looked gorgeous .

While we may be in  September, this is  great  summery look for next season. The orange lip is big for fall too though ,and it looks like it will continue into Spring.

My favorite Vena Cava look was the last dress( shown).  Stunning  and the model shows the makeup perfectly.

NY Fashion Week Day 1 - Vena Cava, LAMB, Prabal Gurung

Some images and thoughts from Day 1 of Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week.

I love , love the blue nails at Vena Cava. The shade was custom mixed by butter London's Nonie Cream, and is being called "Corporate Blue". ( According to Lucky Mag, Dashing Diva's Box Seats is similar and was used at the Lorick show).

The purple lips aren't me, but if you're brave and have the right skin tone... MAC artists created the lips by mixing Pro Lip Mixes in White, Blue, Burgundy and Red. Sunglasses are by Persol.

Prabal Gurung's show was well attended by the fashion headmisstresses from what I've read. So he's one to watch. I love all the bright blue especially this gorgeous dress. Understated in design, but packs a punch. On the other hand, the bow dress ? I think I had a version of that in the '80s only with more pouf.

Lastly a look from LAMB. The Madonna lace legging I could do without, but the jacket is fab. Again this look owes a lot to the 80s and we know Gwen is an 80s loving gal.

The 80s redux is showing up all over the runways this season. The use of more and more bright blue thrills me. Bright , bold eyeshadow seems to be a small trend thus far as well.
