pureDKNY a drop of Verbena

pureDKNY is back with a new, second scent called a drop of Verbena, based on the Verbena -Basil variety of the plant.

Initially it's a burst of  bright lemon and  then quickly has a little hint of the green herb that that actual verbena plant has. I've grown Lemon Verbena and it does have a lovely smell. Nothing strong but it's long stems do have scent. The scent tends to be stronger when infused , such as in tea or in this case, perfume.  I really don't smell any basil in there, but I can't say I've ever smelled Verbena-Basil.
As a drop of Verbena  dries down it's less lemon and more herb but the citrus is still there  as well as a light floral undertone. By the full drydown it's definitely more stems than zest but still very nice and if you love citrus, it's one to try.

This is very green  and  refreshing. Nothing complicated and lovely for  the hot days we are still having and certainly fine for the fall to come.  An anytime, anywhere scent .

As with the previous pureDKNY fragrance, Verbena is is packaged in a bottle made from 100% recyclable glass  and with a 100 %  recycylable aluminum cap as well as the outer wrap being derived from renewable wood pulp and not basic clear plastic.

DKNY Delicious Core Club

In celebration  of the 5th anniversary of DKNY Be Delcious as well as the addition of the  new EDT version of the famous scent, DKNY has created the Core Club. Yes, core as in apple.

pureDKNY Perfume

A drop of vanilla in water , that's the description of the new pureDKNY fragrance. It is of course a bit more than that but the vanilla is important as the vanilla used is harvested in Uganda via the CARE organization, who work with Ugandan villages to assist the women in learning to be self-sufficient.

The scent is very soft. It's meant to be a comforting type . At first there is a bit of citrus then light florals . I get a lot of freesia and the "dew drop petal accord" note . It has some powder and then the vanilla comes in . Slightly sweet but in no way a foodie gourmand vanilla. At times there is a hint of aquatic in there but it fades. The drydown is that soft vanilla and sandalwood. The overall fragrance is a light floral -soft woods scent

Lasting power is good and sillage is light. The official notes are : dew drop petal accord, lotus flower, bulgarian rose, jasmine, freesia, orchid, white amber, sandalwood and vanilla in water.

DKNY is trying to be as eco-friendly as they can in the packaging. The glass of the bottle is recyclable, the carton recyclable or compostable and made from Certfied Forest Paper.

DKNY Handbags Spring 2010

All the new issues of the fashion mags have been running the new DKNY Spring ads. Every time I see it, I am all over the handbags shown. I decided to track down more info and in doing so, saw even more amazing styles.

DKNY has jumped on the chain strap bandwagon. I can't tell you how excited I am that chain straps are back. Me, I never stopped using them , they just got harder to find. Fashion has re-caught up with me at last.

Here are some of my favorite styles, with my very favorite being the white gathered one with chain strap. It's so me , I cannot tell you.

Some of these are really tough, and then there is the simply classic and always in style mock croc.

DKNY Delicious Candy Apples

DKNY's new Delicious Candy Apples fragrances are a sweet treat with no calories. These fun apple bottles even have their very own stick. There are 3 scents- Ripe Raspberry, Juicy Berry and Sweet Caramel.

Sweet Caramel- This reminded me a lot of the original Be Delicious. I didn't detect too much caramel, but if you love the originals and more aquatic florals, then this one will be for you.

Juicy Berry- This one was a surprise. I often don't like blackberry notes but this turned out to be a fun, fruity burst of berry. Black currant is also in there as well as lychee, so this one is a fruit salad of a scent. It may have a purple bottle but it bears little in common with De Delicious Night, also a blackberry based scent. That one was more gourmand and musky.

Ripe Raspberry- Not as raspberry as you'd think ( and I'm not a fan of raspberry either ). Lots of watery floral notes here and apple. Notes list lime and a cola accord. Not smelling those much but there is a hint of something sort of 7Up-ish that might be that cola note. Plenty of light woods in the drydown , and this ends up being a soft scent .

The Juicy Berry is my pick here. It was the least floral of the 3 and the most different from what the earlier ones smell like. I can't say enough about how cute the bottles are. Worth having one for that alone.

DKNY Charmingly Delicious

For summer DKNY fragrances have released what are being called Charmingly Delicious versions of Be Delicious and Red Delicious. It's been awhile since I smelled the orginals, so I can't compare too well, but I can tell you that these are fairly light and fresh.

Red Delicious Charmingly has berry notes and a touch of vanilla that I can smell. It's a bit more zippy than Be Delicous Charmingly.

Be Delicious is more green apple juice with what the company calls dewy watery notes.

I always liked Red Delicious more, and in these new versions, I still do. Both have their places and if you like one of the originals, you will like these as well.

The bottles are cute vintage looking( and flask like) and come with fun cell phone charms.

The Charmingly Delicious Collection will be out in April , and are LE.

DKNY Delicious Night Fragrance

DKNY is releasing next month new Delicious Night as a tribute to the pulsing nights of Manhattan.

No apple in this one, it's billed as smelling more like a blackberry martini. Notes include pomelo,orchid, freesia, jasmine amber, myrhh, and vetiver.

I smell much blackberry from opening through drydown, but not too much martini, the scent doesn't yell "alcoholic drink " at you. I wonder how this would layer with Demeter's Gin and Tonic( which I don't own , unfortunately). I think it would make a stellar combo.

Delicious Night is not an overly fruity fragrance despite the pomelo and blackberry. There is definitely plenty of floral and a muskiness as well. I get a lot of the freesia , jasmine , and amber as well as the blackberry. It's a floral-amber melange.

It would work well day or evening, and has good sillage and lasts quite well.

The perfume comes in the Delicious style bottle but in a beautiful deep purple black shade. It reminds me of an apple the Wicked Queen in Snow White would have. The color of the bottle is enough to want to display it. It looks just a bit wicked, and is far darker than it looks in the picture.

The scent comes in an EDP in 2 sizes, as well a shower gel, lipgloss and body lotion.

It will be first at Bloomingdales in October.
